Maggie, I don't know if you have a blog etc, or if you review books as you go, but Netgalley.com is where most of the people I know got the book from. The publishers like to see that you have a blog, or rate books on goodreads, amazon, librarything, etc.

Kasia (kasia_s) I'm just starting Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison, I wanted to read it as Pale Demon came out, in case I couldn't bare to wait long enough for the next installment.

message 1160: by Wicked Tiffy (new)

Wicked Tiffy | 3 comments Just started "River Marked" by Patricia Briggs. As usual, it's a wonderful book. I picked it up at her book signing in Northern Virginia. I have to say that it was a treat meeting her in person. Patricia read part of a chapter of her new book and answered everyone's questions! She personalized all the books she was signing and would sign as many books as you brought. The limit was 3 at a time and then you went to the back of the line. If you wanted a picture, she stood up next to you! After going to a few book signings, I was impressed at how outgoing and happy she was that people would come out to see her. The only down side was that the bookstore didn't have enough copies of her new book on hand. I got one of the last 5 and I showed up 5 minutes before the event started.

message 1170: by JackieR (new)

JackieR (readthat) | 93 comments I just finished City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #3) by Stacia Kane and loved it. I stalled a little in the second book of this series and debating giving it up. It finally took off and it was worth the wait. I read this third book in one day.

I am about to start reading River Marked (Mercedes Thompson #6) by Patricia Briggs and I can't wait. This has been one of my favorite series.

message 1171: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished listening to Inside Out. It was a good futuristic YA read. I am now reading Silver Borne. It's always good to read about Mercy.

Christen, I'm not hating it that's for sure. I love Pirate, Lizzie's terrier, and the biker witches are pretty funny as well. I can either take, or leave the whole Dimitri and Lizzie romance link however.

message 1179: by Shelley (last edited Mar 13, 2011 02:08PM) (new)

Shelley Finished: The Body Finder (The Body Finder, #1) by Kimberly Derting (A really nice book with enough romance, and suspense for me. Probably more for YA genre, but still..; Strategic Moves (Stone Barrington) by Stuart Woods (A series that has worn me out finally! Needs to end, or have a bunch of characters killed off; Crossed by J. F. Lewis (3rd book in trilogy and probably the turning point of the series; Unseen (Outcast Season, #3) by Rachel Caine (I'm not a huge fan of Cassiel like others. Sub Characters keep me coming back for more; A Devil in the Details (Jesse James Dawson, #1) by K.A. Stewart (A really good male lead book and with an amazing family dynamic, which is rare for this genre).

Next up: I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) by Pittacus Lore ; Etched in Bone (The Maker's Song, #4) by Adrian Phoenix ; Archangel's Consort (Guild Hunter, #3) by Nalini Singh ; Serpent's Storm (Calliope Reaper-Jones, #3) by Amber Benson

message 1185: by Ladiibbug (new)

Ladiibbug Just finished Diary of a Narcissistic Bloodsucker, a review copy. As promised in the giveaway, I'm posting my review here. Hope that's OK (it's short):

E-book/Kindle

We meet and learn about Zara, the centuries old vampire queen, by reading her diary entries. Zara is fun, light-hearted and extremely self-absorbed.

I enjoyed the new and unique aspects of the paranormal/vampire aspects -- I haven't read anything like these aspects before. The story is sensual, but not erotic, or a romance.

I liked the fun, quick read from author Lynda Hilburn, who wrote one of my all-time favorite reads, The Vampire Shrink, #1 Kismet Knight. Kismet is a psychologist in Denver, Colorado who suddenly encounters patients who believe there are vampires in the area. Deaveraux (sp?) is way high on my list of Most Lusted After Vampires in fiction! This is a FABULOUS book. I can't imagine why it's not more widely read. People I've recommended it to have loved it (5 star ratings) as well.

Diary of a Narcissistic Bloodsucker by Lynda Hilburn

message 1186: by Miranda (new)

Miranda (miranda_fall) I'm reading The Neon Court: Or, the Betrayal of Matthew Swift and I absolutely love it! It's the third book in the series (just came out a few weeks ago) and it's simply amazing. These are my favorite books of all time. They combine so many UF elements and spin them in the most urban way possible. They're all about city grit and magic with the best, kick-ass protagonist I've ever encountered. I adore these books!

message 1191: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished reading Silver Borne and as usual enjoyed Briggs' writing. Her stories are so easy to read and that takes great skill as a writer. Silver Borne was more about Mercy's relationships with Adam and the pack than about the silver borne. It also enlightened us on the interworkings of pack bounding and gave us more background on some of the characters. Didn't really buy the Samuual love interest, but it was sweet.

I am starting Black Magic Sanction and still reading Behemoth.

message 1192: by Julia (new)

Julia | 615 comments Currently reading and really enjoying Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly . I'm on page 171 and I'm still not at all sure what kind of novel it's going to be -- and that's kinda refreshing!

Before that it was The Magicians, which is not for me... Neither was A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future: Life Lessons from a High School Dropout, but it's much shorter. River Marked I loved. A Business of Ferrets wasn't my thing. Flygirl is pretty good. Discord's Apple is a neat combination of some pretty disparate elements.

Next up might be: Leaving Mother Lake: A Girlhood at the Edge of the World, Forge, Chalice, Play Dead, A Hundred Words for Hate, The Radleys, To Kill a Mockingbird, Unfallen Dead, Except the Queen, Torn.

message 1193: by Ladiibbug (new)

Ladiibbug Just finished Simon Clark's gruesome but very good London Under Midnight.

World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks has arrived from the library, my last book TBR to complete the challenge.

Now reading a non-fiction How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming by CalTech astronomer Mike Brown. He's the scientist responsible for stripping Pluto of its "planet" classification *cry*. I'm curious as to how this happened and why ... Pluto was my favorite planet, way out in last place ... and as a dog lover, always reminded me of Disney's goofy dog character Pluto.

Be sure to post your thoughts. I've put this in my to read file, but someone advised they thought Jim Butcher was better. I tried the first three of the Dresden files and was not enamored of them. They're okay but I tired of the hero being beat up, barely functioning and exhausted and dragging himself from one encounter to the next throughout the book. Who knows, I might like Simon Green better.
