I could have just been in the mood for it too. :) It reminded me of a lot of different books, but was different enough to keep from annoying me with the similiarities.

There have been books I couldn't stand and friends would love them. :)

message 504: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 822 comments I have a bunch of YA books that are next for me. They are
The Demon's Covenant (The Demon's Lexicon Trilogy, #2) by Sarah Rees Brennan Tithe (The Modern Faerie Tales, #1) by Holly Black and White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black

These should keep me out of trouble for a while. :)

message 506: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie Finished up the fifth book in the Cal Leandros series, Roadkill, by Rob Thurman. I have to agree with a lot of the reviews that this is the weakest in the series so far.

Just started Mercy Thompson 1, Moon Called, by Patricia Briggs. I'm usually not a fan of the female POV in these books so I'm a bit wary - hopefully it'll be good though. I am tempted to read something else though, this last Cal Leandros book had a good chunk of it dealing with wolves or talking about wolves... and so does Moon Called. I get a little tired of reading about the things. >.<

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) almost done with Bring On The Night (WVMP Radio, #3) by Jeri Smith-Ready and it's the best of the 3 books although I enjoyed them all. I've been dying to read Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane, #1) by Jaye Wells and I finally found it so on to that once I finish Bring on the Night.

I love Jeri Smith-Ready. Her Crow series is also excellent, but I would classify them more as Sci-Fi because they take place in the future.

Red-Headed Stepchild is also really good.

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 109 comments I am reading The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa and just about to start Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, #1) by Orson Scott Card . So far the Iron Daughter is better than the first.

message 534: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie Finished up Harm None: A Rowan Gant Investigation by MR Sellars - it was painful to finish and I had to skim the last third or so of the book. Not surprisingly, I didn't feel like I missed much.

I'm now reading Bleak History by John Shirley. It's interesting so far too - though I don't enjoy the split POV. Urban Fantasy has ruined me that way - I can't stand when books change POV throughout the book now. >.<

message 535: by Krysta (new)

Theresa (tsorrels) Reading Magic Bleeds and loving it. This series rocks!

Today I'll be finishing up listening to Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. Almost sad for the book to end as I feel like I know many of the characters now.

After I finish Magic Bleeds, I'll be starting City of Veils: A Novel by Zoë Ferraris.

You aren't alone; I feel the same way about this series. Don't really get all the hype about it.

the series gets a lot better as it goes. The third book was awesome, IMO. It reminds me of Kate Daniels in the way the books just get better and better (same can be said for The Mortal Instruments series).
