Book in My Library I didn't Add

Hi, I was looking at the books in my read folder and I have a book I didn't add:

The Mistmantle Chronicles, Book 1: Urchin of the Riding Stars
by M.I. Mcallister

I don't own this book, and I have never heard of it.

I looked at my read list on Saturday/early Sunday and then just now. It wasn't there the last time I looked, so it was added something between Sunday and Monday afternoon.

Is this common ? Can you add books to other's libraries, or is it some computer glitch ?

Hmm. I found a book today on my shelves that shouldn't have been there and that I didn't remember even seeing. I'd assumed that I clicked it by accident at some point but now I do wonder. Anyway, I deleted it and,as far as I know, it was the only book on my shelf that shouldn't have been there.

P.S. There is a soft login others can do if they click a link from an email you sent to them. This has happened (in both directions) a couple of times to me since I joined, but not for a very long time because now I'm very careful.

Thank you for this thread. I found an Erotic anthology that I don't recall adding, and that stood out like a sore thumb.

I've deleted it.

I guess it could happen if someone edits a book, changing the cover, title etc. Might be where an ISBN has been reused.

I have not had a problem, but this is beginning to concern me.

I've got loads of oddballs in my list, from doing an import from Excel - that might explain some others.

Has anyone gone to check the edit logs for any of these books to see if some kind of merging/changing of data occurred?

I haven't noticed any weird ones on my shelves, but I think I'll have to poke around to make sure.

Strange - we haven't seen this problem much before. I can confidently say that its not a security issue and has nothing to do with combining editions.

I think Stephen's guess of using the import feature is most likely - or Lisa's guess or forwarded links. Keep us posted if it keeps happening.

Hi there, I haven't logged in in a few months and finally logged in today, and noticed that my library has 45 books -- I only remembered adding about 10, so I took a look at it. There are TONS of books there I have never heard before -- and they have been marked "read" and given stars. I have never used the import feature, or know what forwarded links are -- I only really added a few books, and did it by searching each book, adding, etc. Not sure what happened to the account...

Angela, as far as I can see, most of those were added on May 17th, together with the books you did read. Since they are all classics, I think something went wrong with the rate these books quiz/list people can do when they have just joined the site. It looks like it imported all books from that instead of only the ones you've read.

Hi Jan, Thank you -- that makes sense a little, weird links happen. I will just clear the ones I have not read... I started that but then figured better wait and see if I should delete those, in case someone could see what I did wrong. Thanks again for the response! :)

I'm not a GR official, so maybe wait for someone of those to reply, but I think it was just a little bug.
