Marianne (circetay) hahah sorry! I must have missed this one! Not sure how that happenend!

Ok, so here's where I stand. I still need to read A thousand Splendid Suns for April, I am Legend for May (which I am on the fence about since you disliked it so much!) So, I am going to see whats available at the library and go from there. What do you plan to read in the near future?

message 4: by Heather (new)

Heather The Hollow is ready for pick up, have to get it tomorrow, so that'll be next after The Memory Keeper's Daughter. Melissa mailed me My Best Friend's Girl, so I can read that whenever I'm in between library books. I THINK the library has 3 copies of Glass Castle so I can probably get that whenever I'm ready, and I'm #30 or something in line for Remember. I will be buying Lullabies during a friends & family appreciation week at Barnes & Noble the 2nd week of June. So, that's my plan!!! :-)
As far as I Am Legend goes, you can probably skip it, watch the movie, I hear it's better.

message 5: by Mel (new)

Mel I am still reading 'Blood Brothers' and I just bought 'The Hollow' to start when I am done. I also have 'Hide,' 'Salem Falls' and 'Bergdorf Blondes' on my list to read next... :-)

message 6: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (circetay) So I guess we aren't going to read very much together yet :( Heather you're reading all the ones i've already read, and Amy you are reading ones that I don't have yet. LOL...

message 7: by Heather (new)

Heather Yeah, we need to start reading together again! All of us, even Mel! Maybe we can catch up in June.
How are you that far ahead of me in books, Mar? I guess I've read a couple you haven't yet, or won't read, but still! I noticed you finished The Glass Castle, so what's next for you? And I also noticed your sister seemed to LOVE Lullabies! I can't wait to read it. Maybe I should have you mail it to me since she's already done with it!

message 8: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (circetay) I think it's just the timing that's off. The books that I need to read to get caught up i'm still very far away from getting, (1000 suns, and The hollow) and a few i've already read (best friends girl, glass caslte, lullabies).

I'm going to read that Fat Girl book on the meantime and then hopefully we can get caugt up in June?

message 9: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (circetay) Yay! I just got notified that 1000 Splendid Suns is ready for pick up! I just finished my other book this morning so I guess that will be my next read. I was hoping for something less heavy, but hopefully it will be a good read.

message 10: by Heather (new)

Heather Very cool! I thought it was good, in fact, I think I liked it a little more than The Kite Runner.
I just finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter and started The Hollow yesterday! I have to read it fast cuz there are 8 people in line behind me so I won't be able to renew, and it's due the 15th I think.
Keep me updated on the book!

message 11: by Heather (new)

Heather I finished 'The Hollow' last night and I'm not sure what I'm going to read next. I currently have in my possession 'Lullabies...' and 'My Best Friend's...' so I guess I'll read those. I'm still in line for 'Remember Me' and I think I can pick up 'Glass Castle' any time I'm at the library. So that's my plan for now!
How is everyone else getting along on their lists/!? :)

message 12: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (circetay) Wow, it didn't take you very long to read The Hollow. I'm glad you enjoyed it, i'm looking forward to it too. I hope if refreshes my memory at the beginning tho lol...

I am reading 1000 Splendid Suns right now and I must say that I am really enjoying it. Like you Heather more than I did the Kite Runner. I struggled thru the first part because I find it hard to read a name that is so similar to mine (Mariam) but now that we're past her it's all good!

message 13: by Heather (new)

Heather Well, Miriam will be back, so be prepared. lol
Glad you are enjoying it. I think I went back and forth on whether I liked it or not while I read it, but in the end determined I did think it was an excellent book.
I'm enjoying My Best Friend's Girl, and look forward to reading Lullabies after that!

message 14: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (circetay) I know she's back :( LOL... I am enjoying it but find it incredibly sad and depressing. I mean all that these women have to go through. I was so worried the baby would die when they were locked in and having a c-section with no anesthetic... ick.

Remember Me finally came in the mail yesterday, but i've passed it on to Monica. I am still reading 1000 Splendid Suns so I figured it would be ok. Except that I stayed up late reading last night and now it won't take me long to finish it. Oh well, I'll find something short to read in between.

message 15: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (circetay) I'm so so so excited! I just got notified that The Hollow is waiting for me at the library! i guess I won't have to wait as long as I thought. Now I just have to finish A thousand splendid suns (i am almost done) and I can read it!

message 16: by Heather (new)

Heather Yes, it is an extremely depressing book, but I still can't get over what a beautiful author he is. I really wish he would write something a little more uplifting. lol
YAY about The Hollow, that'll be perfect while you wait on Monica to finish Remember Me! And YAY for Remember Me! You are ready to rock 'n roll now!
How was your book club meeting on The Glass Castle, by the way?

message 17: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (circetay) He is a wonderful author. I wonder what his writings would be like if it was a different topic. I am having a hard time with all the rules against women and the beatings. And putting the girl in an orphanage is heartbreaking.

Yes, so I have the Hollow in my possession as well as The Historian. And let me tell you, it is ONE MASSIVE book. I hope it's interesting lol...

Book Club was good. I didn't love the book as much as all the other ladies, so they were ranting and raving about it. We did talk about some neat stuff. Monica likes to print out discussion questions so we talked about those. I'll be anxious to hear what you think.

message 18: by Heather (new)

Heather I agree with 1000 Suns, it was hard to read, but such a captivating story that I couldn't stop. It's hard to read stories based on truth like that, and current truth. I hate thinking that sort of oppression is still going on, even though I know it is.
Massive, eh? I'm scared now!
I'm close to being done with My Best Friend's Girl and then I was going to move on to Lullabies For Criminals, then maybe I'll be reading The Glass Castle. Still catching up, somehow?!?

message 19: by Mel (new)

Mel I am done with The Hollow and am on to another of Nora Roberts' books- High Noon. So far it is really good but I am anxiously awaiting the Pagan Stone. I am going to read Skylight Confessions next I think... :-)

message 20: by Heather (new)

Heather Who wrote Skylight Confessions, Mel?
I just finished 'My Best Friend's Girl' and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sending it to me Mel! Do you want me to send it back to you or just keep it?
I'm moving on to 'Lullabies For Criminals' and I'm excited, I've been wanting to read this for awhile, and so far, just a few pages in, my interest in already peaked!
I sitll have 'The Glass Castle' to read from our May list, another one I'm looking forward to reading, and then I'll be ready to start the June list! Yay!

message 21: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (circetay) Wow, we had a lot of discussions this month! Awesome. So, now that june is over, I guess I need to catch up. I read Remember Me, and gave up on the Historian so I guess that leaves the other two for me to read to be caught up. I'm going to request them from the library right now!

heather, I can't wait to hear what you think about The Historian.

message 22: by Heather (new)

Heather YAY!!! I FINALLY finished the May book list!!! I've got 1 out of 4 read from June's, but I'm skipping ahead to one from July next, 'Night'. After that, I'll just have to see what's available at the library, which I might go check online for right now, since 'Night' is so short.

message 23: by Heather (new)

Heather Read 'Remember Me', Reading 'Temple', then I'll be reading a couple from July list since they were ready at library!
