Yippee. It's Friday, only 1 hour until Friday night drinks.
I have to work at 6 am on Saturday. I will NOT be getting inebriated tonight. Possibly on Saturday night, though... :)
Last night I got a bit loaded with the guys who did my new roof. Someone cue up Los Lobos' "I Got Loaded."
It was 85 degrees yesterday in Detroit, so I got out the old kettle fire pit, made a fire, and tossed back a few recreational beverages.

Only one problem Larry; I know squat about shingling roofs. But I hear you.

I know nothing about shingling roofs either Clark, that's why I drink beer. Stick with what ya know!

When it comes to work around the house, I'm a lot better than I used to be but I'm hardly what you'd call "handy," "improvisational," or "clever." I can barely navigate my way out of a tollbooth.

Me too Clark, I'm learning floor tiling this year.
Maybe shower tiling also.

Not sure about your neck of the woods Cynthia, but the Italians have a pretty tight stranglehold on the concrete and tile business in and around Detroit. I'm half Italian so I don't mind dem guys.

In Iowa, the concrete guys are definitely not Italian. They tend to tell off-color jokes and work without shirts on and speak redneck.
I am extremely drunk right right now. I got a case of Heineken at Costco today, and I'm on beer #7. I'm watching the Bucks game. God, we fucking suck. Make a fucking shot!I'm going to listen to Lucero soon, because Lucero is great drunk music. I'm going to turn off the lights and play Lucero real loud and sort of sway back and forth.
Hard rain is falling. Massive lightning. I'm reading a book called Hard Rain Falling. Or is Cold Rain Falling? I don't fucking know.
I'm going for double digits Heineken tonight. And I'm gonna stand out in the pouring rain and feel alive.
OMG RA. YES! Keep posting. This is awesome. I'm going to vicariously enjoy this.
Do you have any tequila in the house?
Do you have any tequila in the house?
No, but I have whiskey. What the fuck kind? Knob Creek. If I do shots I'm probably gonna barf. I'm at least gonna cough like a fourteen year old girl at a house party. Should I try?
::pats self on back for turning RA on to Lucero::I rock! SWEEEEET! Lucero is great drunk music!
I'm on my 2nd beer which is the last in the house but I could open a bottle of wine? I just put the kids to bed.
Yes, Gretchen, I totally owe you. I'm going to mail out that Ben Nichols this weekend...I think I still have your address somewhere in my inbox.I've been listening to the new Lucero, with the horns, more too. "What Are You Willing To Lose" is a great song.
Hm...I'm a bad influence, Gretchen. How old are your kids again? Can they get up tomorrow without you and watch cartoons or whatever while you sleep it off?
I might go have my alloted 2 oz of red wine just to celebrate this awesomeness.
Yes, RA. Do one Knob Creek shot. But just one. Look at me, look, look look at me. NO MORE THAN ONE. It will up the volume to ten, but you do not need another.

The last time I woke up with a hangover they invoked Martial Law while I was in the bathroom throwing up. It was 2 chocolate pudding apiece for breakfast by the time I made it upstairs to tell my husband he had to take over.
I'm gonna wait until the kids go to sleep before I try a shot. But I'll try one in your honor, Sallers.
Sally wrote: "Gretchen, yes you can open that bottle of wine. Then lets talk fertility."Say what?? oh right.
I think I might have to leave the tub to get some Purple Haze out of the fridge... or maybe some shiraz instead. I feel like I'm missing out right now. I don't know if I should drink, though... I haven't eaten dinner yet.
I didn't open the wine. I'm drinking water now. RA talked me out of it by calling forth the image of my children in the morning.
I think he might have talked himself out of it too. Or, sadly, he might be passed out on the kitchen floor this very minute, one hand wrapped around the empty Bourbon bottle.
I got inebriated for the first time on Sat night. Consort was gone and Baby and I were visiting across the street with Other Baby and his parents and Sibs. The parents all had three double-shots of cheap whiskey and the mommas quickly realized that they had not had this much to drink in over a year (in one sitting).Everything went ok, if a little bleary, until I had to wake up to feed my kid at 3am and ran downstairs to get a bottle.
Wouldn't ya know I fell down the stairs?
Just like college.
Me too because its gorgeous out and I'm running errands!! In the smoothie cafe now looking at Super Hot Guy. Yay spring!!
Gretchen, does he work there? Because there are times when I go to Costco and I get disappointed that the right women aren't working the registers...I gave up at 8.5 beers, but I feel pretty good today. No shots, Sallers. I'm going to work out soon and sweat it all out.
8.5 beers would do it for me. Sometimes I have a swig of Sweeter's beer and get the sudden urge to make sentimental, long lost facebook connections.
I had a margarita last night at book group, but didn't even get buzzed. It must not have been that strong, and it was suspiciously fizzy.
Sally wrote: "8.5 beers would do it for me. Sometimes I have a swig of Sweeter's beer and get the sudden urge to make sentimental, long lost facebook connections."DON'T DO IT, SALLY! 99.995 times out of 100, there's a reason they were left in your past.
Jackie "the Librarian" wrote: "I had a margarita last night at book group, but didn't even get buzzed. It must not have been that strong, and it was suspiciously fizzy."Jacks! That's kind of cute. :) I still haven't had any alcohol yet this weekend. I suspect it'll be a tea and water and diet coke kind of weekend. We're supposed to get MORE bad weather tomorrow night... and we have a double header in kickball, to be followed by an end of the season party that'll go indefinitely late...
Heidi wrote: "...and we have a double header in kickball, to be followed by an end of the season party that'll go indefinitely late...Kickball has a season?
I had way too much fucking wine tonight. I'd have had a great buzz going, except I got cornered at the wedding reception for pretty much the entirety of my being there... and then kidnapped. So the buzz went downhill REAL quicklike, and then I was just like "OKAAAAAY, this isn't fun anymore." I'm still not ready to talk about it. It was one of those weird nights that one might expect from a Quentin Tarantino movie, and I despise Quentin Tarantino movies with every fiber of my being. I should probably go to sleep now.
Oh Heidi!!! I'm sure you're still asleep right now so I'm not gonna give you a big hug but I'm giving you a kiss on the forehead and tucking the covers up around your chin.
Sounds like a lot of drama. The last wedding I went to was 2 weeks ago, as the date of my husband (from whom I am separated) - but we had agreed to help out (he as groomsman, me doing other duties) prior to our separation. It was so freaking awkward, all of our friends there. Ugh. But at least there all the drama was in my head (I hope). Our friends were pretty nonchalant about it.And I only went to this thread because I'm tipsy now, compliments of my two mimosas - one pineapple/cranberry, the other a bellini (which I still count as a mimosa, I don't care what that haughty server at the restaurant says).
Also here because of the mimosa thread. Except I am making myself a Godfather. Half Scotch, half Amaretto. Sounds gross, but a very good combo. (I do put in a pinch more Amaretto if it's cheaper Scotch, though)
