My work is never done (caminandoenpradososcuros) | 1 comments What's very interesting about this series is that there is a lot of Folklore in them which combines it beautifully with H.P. Lovecraft's Old Ones mythos. The Books are actually a re-write of the Pentagram Books originally they had all been boys, but the 5th one had been turned into a girl (which I prefer actually). The 5 children symbolize the 5 points of the Pentagram which in turn symbolize the 5 Elements of Magic (Earth,Air,Fire,Water, and Spirit or the Cosmic Spirit, the energy that connects us all to each other what the Christians would call the Holy Spirit)so far I know Matt is Fire, but I have no idea what the others are, based on their powers they all seem to be different manifestations of the Spirit element and Matt seems to be the only Element that is Independent from Spirit I wonder why that is? Oh well I suppose we'll find out soon enough. Anyways,I am finally on Book Four : Necropolis, seems really good but really, really violent and gory in ways that the other books cant even come close to. It actually made me sick with some of the scenes it describes but then again perhaps I just have a weak stomach. It's interesting to see the Old Ones and their human Disciples working closely together and organizing things. Up until now we only saw one side or the other, the Old Ones working alone or their human servants working alone. About time I think! I see that the book covers and name in Britain are very different from the ones in America, but it's obvious the writing is the same in each case, when describing the characters sometimes you get a brief reminder that the Author is British when he describes them as "smartly dressed" lol not that I mind I actually find it refreshing to see another type of english employed, and to be quite honest it seems more flavorful, more alive somehow than American english which apart from our different accents, is boring, with no life ascribed to it. Maybe I'm the only one whose noticed that. In either case, I am definitely a fan of this series and I wanted to ask if anyone here knows if the Pentagram series which is the original, made it out into Books as well? I don't think I'll like it as much as this series but it is definitely worth reading!
