Terri Reid | 13 comments Hello! I just found this group and I am very interested in reading your opinions. I've also just added my Mary O'Reilly Paranormal Mystery to your shelves. I enjoy getting feedback from my readers that they enjoy my books because they are clean.

Thanks!

Cheryl Bolen | 22 comments I have a new release, a short and sweet Regency romance novel ($.99 ebook) titled HIS LORDSHIP'S VOW. It's just been out 8 days and has moved into the Top 10 Regency releases on Amazon as well as the Top 100 Regency bestsellers. Also, it's already gotten two 5-star reviews. It's available on all ereader sites. Short description: Plain spinster helps lord she loves woo heiress to honor deathbed vow to his father.

Lydia Jones (Lydia6) | 11 comments I think there's a huge difference between acknowledging that lovers will have a physical relationship (at least in novels set in modern times) and showing the details of that relationship. I write short stories (all clean) so it could be argued that in this genre there is no room for the development of a physical relationship - but there again many writers seem to manage it! My anthology "For A Smile" is available on Amazon or from my website www.lydiajones.co.uk and I think(!) I have added it to the bookshelf here! :)

Cheryl Bolen | 22 comments For those who like Regency romances, LADY SOPHIA'S RESCUE, a lighthearted novella ebook by Cheryl Bolen, is free on Amazon and Smashwords. Click here for more information.

Sunpenny Publishing | 1 comments Can I suggest three books for the shelves? These are:

Blue Freedom by Sandra Peut
Embracing Change by Debbie Roome
A Flight Delayed by KC Lemmer

These are all Christian Aspiration Romance novels and, as such, are clean and beautiful.

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 188 comments Hi I know that this question has already been asked but I just want to make sure: is it okay if I add the books I have written to the group shelf, they are ALL clean romances. Also I'm a self published author.

Sorry to be a pest!

First, you are NOT being a pest. Second, yes, you are free to add your own clean romances to the group shelf. :O)

Yes, you can add any clean romances you want, your own or ones you've read. Welcome to the group! :O)

One addendum to Jaimey's green light. Please remember that this group is about clean "secular" romances, not "inspirational" romances. You're welcome to discuss both sub-genres on our discussion threads, but only clean "secular" romances should be added to our group bookshelf. I've listed multiple links for inspirational romances under our Group Description, where inspirationals will find a happy home on a bookshelf. :-)

I've added a "holiday" shelf to our group bookshelf. If you have any favorite holiday clean romances (Christmas, Halloween, etc), feel free to add them to that shelf. Also if you know any holiday books already on our shelves, feel free to add them to the "holiday" shelf, too!

message 68: by Sheri (new)

Sheri South | 22 comments Thanks for inviting me to post about my own books! I started out writing YA for Bantam's Sweet Dreams series, but more recently I've been doing Regency romances and historical mysteries with a romance thread. Of my Regencies, the favorite seems to be THE WEAVER TAKES A WIFE. The Weaver Takes a Wife (Weaver, #1) by Sheri Cobb South . My top-selling mystery is A DEAD BORE A Dead Bore Another John Pickett Mystery by Sheri Cobb South . The red-headed stepchild of the bunch seems to be my 1930s Hollywood mystery, BABES IN TINSELTOWN Babes in Tinseltown A Mystery of Hollywood's Golden Age by Sheri Cobb South , which got a great review in Library Journal and "recommended read" status by Dear Author, but which has only been reviewed on Goodreads by people who don't like it! Oh well, I guess you can't please everyone!

C. | 289 comments Hi, Just joined goodreads a few days ago,and just working my way around the different discussion groups when I found this one.

I was surprised to not see a bookshelf for 'Amish' fiction!

Surely there are readers of that genre here since it has become so popular! Also they are definitely 'clean' reads.

I have tried and tried to add books to the group bookshelves with no success.:(

message 72: by Joyce, Group Creator (new)

Joyce | 592 comments Mod
Hi Christine,

Since Amish is a religion, I think those books, clean as they are, would likely go on an inspirational bookshelf. Our bookshelf is only for clean secular romances. Re-read our group description to understand what type of books we specialize in. :-)

message 73: by C. (last edited Apr 18, 2013 01:19AM) (new)

C. | 289 comments Oh, I'm sorry, that makes perfect sense(my face is soo red) since 'clean-secular' books are exactly what I am looking for,SHEESH!

I will go add that shelf category to those type of books that I have read. I apologize that you needed to remind me.

C. | 289 comments Joyce says
Our bookshelf is only for clean secular romances. Re-read our group description to understand what type of books we specialize in. :-)
Help! now I am confused, because in browsing through the books I am seeing many that are in fact Christian-or-inspirational,some that I have even read! So many here are posting books that are definitely not secular!

I removed all mine that I had added and were christian-or-inspirational. Just for an example,on the first page the very first title which is not showing the 'full title is~ The Inheritance (Women of Faith Fiction) by Tamera Alexander! Some more from the first page~The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen

A Bride for Donnigan by Janette Oke

Christy by Catherine Marshall

Homespun Bride (The McKaslin Clan: Historical Series, Book 1) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Historical #2) by Jillian Hart .

From the last page~

A Love Forbidden (Heart of the Rockies #2) by Kathleen Morgan

The Falcon and the Sparrow: 1 by MaryLu Tyndall

Breathe: A Novel of Colorado (The Homeward Trilogy, #1) by Lisa Tawn Bergren

So IMHO, it seems either all those that are christian-or inspirational books should be removed from the bookshelf or they should be honestly tagged as christian or inspirational.

Christine, I think I just addressed this on another thread. Message me a list of books that you know are not secular and I will look into them. However, please also review in that thread how this group chooses to draw the line between secular and inspirational. Books are not removed for simple mentions of God or faith or Church, but how predominate such themes are to the romance.

Yes, I'd consider "contemporary" the same as "modern." If anyone else thinks differently, please chime in. :-)

Tamara Philip (tamara_philip) | 19 comments Hi Guys, I'm adding my books which are clean romance reads called The Trouble with Playing Cupid by Tamara Philip
and the sequel The Trouble with Romance by Tamara Philip

message 81: by A.F. (new)

A.F. Dery | 5 comments I added the first books in the two series I currently have out to your shelf. Thank you for this opportunity to get the word out about them :)

I just want to add that at least one of them is categorized on Amazon as "inspirational romance," but none of my books actually are. I've written them repeatedly asking that they be removed from that category because it is inaccurate, but well, they're still there. I just don't want you to think I'm trying to sneak anything by you here, all my books are secular and I'm certainly not trying to pass them off as anything else!

Thanks again!

Gerd | 31 comments Hi,
I'm new here.
So first off: Sorry if this the wrong place to ask or already been asked.

Is there a GLBT shelf in the group library?

Edit:
Ah, never mind, found the answer.
Too bad. :)

Mario Saincic (goodreadscommariosaincic) | 2 comments Good day to all!
I am so glad to have found this group, not only as a writer but also as a reader.

I am a male romance author, and I chose this genre purely because I believe romance exists.
I've also added my books to the bookshelf and am excited to get feedback from everyone...

Would Chick-lit be considered a romance sub-genre?

message 86: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Rebecca wrote, “Would Chick-lit be considered a romance sub-genre?”

I think it’s actually the other way around—chick lit is the larger category, romance the smaller one.

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

I noticed there was no Chick-lit shelf. Would it be appropriate to have one? Or is this genre shelved elsewhere?

message 88: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie McCune (bonniemccune) | 35 comments I don't believe chick lit is a subgenre of romance. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick_lit

Of course many many books in other genres have or contain romance as a theme. But "romance" has specifics, such as the required happy ending and a preponderance of the book relying on a romantic relationship between main characters.

message 89: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie McCune (bonniemccune) | 35 comments How do you add a book to the bookshelf and where to you find various bookshelves?

message 90: by Abigail (new)

Abigail (handmaiden) | 72 comments Click on "Bookshelf" at the top right of the page, just below the group picture. On the new page, the various shelves are linked on the left. At the top left is a search box; enter the title of a book you want to add and click "search" and you will get the options to add books to the group.

message 91: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie McCune (bonniemccune) | 35 comments Thanks, Abigail! I try to learn something new every day, and on 9/5 it was bookshelves, courtesy of you. I even added a non-romance I'd self-published!

message 92: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie McCune (bonniemccune) | 35 comments Mine focus on relationships without being graphic. They also include loads of Colorado history and settings, as well as challenges real people face. Somewhat expanded. The most recent (Falling Like a Rock) has wildfires in it, and the next will have a flash flood.

message 93: by Laura (new)

Laura Berlin | 10 comments Hi all,
Is there anyway to add a poetry shelf? I have written a collection of clean romantic verse I wanted to add.

message 94: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) A few days ago I finished a lovely clean historical romance, The Wrong Envelope by Liz Treacher. It's set in 1920 in Devon. Well written, and focused on character and character development rather than simple sexual attraction. Highly recommended!
