How would you describe the mood (happy, sad, tragic, optimistic, exciting) of the novel? What does the author do to establish that mood? Share at least TWO examples from your book.

Symone (symonefenty) | 5 comments I would describe my book HANDLE WITH CARE as a very sad but also interesting book.I feel this way because of Willow's brittle bone disease and how she isnt able to do all the things that she wants to do because of her condition. This book is also yet interesting because while reading this book I learned many new things that i didnt know before.
one example from my book is: Since Willow has VERY VERY delicate bones she has to be stuck in the wheelchair for the rest of her life so she wont be able to walk.
another example from my book is:Since Willow cant walk or do anything outside of her wheelchair she sits down and read. She reads books about facts that many people didnt know. Even though willow is disabled she can still achieve some of her goals academically.

Ashelle | 5 comments I would describe the mood of my book are both tragic. The author establishes the mood in the begining and through out the book. The book became tragic when Devon a teenage girl was accused of attempted murder in the first degree, abandonment of dependent person in the second degree, criminal mistreatment in the second degree, and assault in the thrid degree. All this makes four charges and now it's up to Devo to figure herself out. Another example is at the end when she had to make a decisions on whether she should trun herself in as guilty.

message 7: by Idayat (new)

Idayat Ibrahim | 5 comments I would describe the mood in my novel to be aggravated and excited. An example that the author used to show aggravation was by letting us know the characters actions. For example, in the beginning of the book, when Nick girlfriend's mother came down the street to get her, she crossed her arms, rolled her eyes, and crossed the right foot over the left foot. An excited part in the story when Nick and Sasha were having sex.

Johnika Dougan | 5 comments I would describe the mood of the novel as mysterious and sneeky. An example of my book being mysterious is the fact that the author, Bill pronzini, keeps the name of his character that's driving all around the world anonymous. Also, an example of my book being sneeky is the fact that Cam is cheating on his wife Jenna with one of the women that work at his job.

message 9: by Varsha (new)

Varsha | 3 comments the mood of this book is tragic. the author establishes this mood by davey being forced to move to a change of scene, due to the anxiety that accompanied her father's death. furthermore, it's also established from the friendship davey has with wolf, which strengthens as davey is accustomed to wolf's father who's slowly dying.

message 11: by Tameika (last edited Apr 12, 2010 02:28PM) (new)

Tameika | 5 comments The mood is sad because she is just in high school and have to go through all things. Even her parents didn't try to look in her eyes throughout the whole pregnancy. and also she had to deal with the her school-mate whispering and chatting behind every time she walk pass them.

message 12: by Cherise (new)

Cherise Johnson | 5 comments In The book The Pact, I would describe the book as sad but a good love story. What made the book sad was that Emily had died at seventeenth which made it sad because she was so young and she had plently of more time to live, what made it a good love story was that in the begginng of the book Emily and Chris was neighbors since they were little kids and they were very good friends and they family was also very close, but when they became teenagers they had fell in love. One example of how the book was sad: Emily Gold dies, but the motives of her death is unknown, An example of how the book mood was a love story: Chris Harte and Emily Gold, grew up together from the day they were born. When Chris and Emily started dating, everyone was happy.
