Welcome to the group Mike, great to have you join up.

I have just finished a book from my grandfather's WWII scrapbooks. He was a Signal Corps Colonel on General MacArthur's staff. I really want to share his story, so I have made the eBook FREE now through Saturday the 21st. Would really appreciate feedback.
MacArthur's WWII Seaborne Communications: CP Fleet reports, brochures, memos from the scrapbooks of a Signal Corps Commanding Officer
I hope you will enjoy going through WWII experiences.
Thank you so much.

Just introducing myself. I'm interested in WW2 and modern military history. Looking forward to some discussions on the subject.

welcome Geoff, any aspects in particular?

Welcome aboard, Geoff!

Welcome, Geoff. Westerplatte would have been fascinating.

My Dad fought in WWII as an Air Gunner on Lancaster Bombers in the Royal Air Force. I well remember watching the series The World at War with him in the 1970's.
I generally read factual books and am always open to suggestions on good books! Cheers

Welcome, Mark. The World At War is an awesome series. I have it on blueray but my player is not working just now. Prety sure it's being shown on daytime TV if you have the time ...

When I was in college, I took a class on World War II. It only met once a week, so it was 2.5 hours long. The second half of class always featured an episode of The World at War.

So much so that I went around the world for four years pre Covid interviewing survivors from countries including Russia (pre war), Britain, the US, Japan, China and Germany. Their words are all compiled into a book which I just released in honour of the vets in the VE Day anniversary week, if anyone has interest (it's called Afterbursts).
Otherwise, one of my favourite works on the topic is The Fear and the Freedom, by Keith Lowe. Also loved One Day in a Very Long War and I'm a huge fan of Svetlana Alexievich's moving works on the individual experiences of conflict.

Welcome to the group, Beata.
While not a comprehensive book on the entire battle, I found this book on the Battle of Britain to be very good:
