Hi Joe, welcome to the group!
A book I really liked about US paratroopers in World War II is this one:

The author was one of the most highly-decorated members of the 82nd Airborne Division and saw lots of action.

I second the recommendation for McManus' book--excellent reading!

Welcome, Joe! I've found a lot of good WWII books (and a few other military & war books) thanks to the recommendations from this group. Hope you do as well.
I have not read this non-fiction book yet (a friend borrowed my copy and is reading it), however, it was highly recommended by a WWII scholar who does courses through the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. My friend is really enjoying it - said they cannot put it down. It's on my want to read list and may be what you are looking for:

I'm Naomi. I share an apartment with my sister Natalie. We're novices and are looking to read up on WW2 and the consequential (some say it was destined to happen regardless of war in Europe) Cold War.

I have been a member of the group for a while now, but I have been away from reading for enjoyment due to life and working on my doctorate. I pop in from time to time to catch up and get some recommendations. I am currently reading The Ghost Tattoo

Hoping to visit the WWII museum outside of New Orleans in November!
