Welcome, Tanya. I enjoyed Hobsbawm's autobiography, Interesting Times: A Twentieth-Century Life.

Hi everyone just joined. My primary interest are Australian military history followed by general WWII. Having said that I am always happy learning new things. Jonny your comment cracked me up as it reflects a military history blog (Doug Dery) I have followed for years. Everyone ends up broke over there too!

I know that Amazon.it (Italy) offers all of the books I am aware of (even all of the books I wrote) on line. I am not aware of books in Italian on WW II, since I do not read Italian, but the e-books should be available.

French Children Under the Allied Bombs, 1940-45: An Oral History by Lindsey Dodd

by Wolfgang W.E. Samuel (goodreads rates 4.34 with 1,185 ratings). Wolfgang has another book The War of Our Childhood: Memories of World War II (goodreads 4.4, with 57 ratings). I bought this 2nd book because his first was so good. It is in my stack 'to read'.

One more recommendation for you Layla:

I started school in Scotland and came home in January '45 to start school in Twickenham with a Scottish accent: which I soon lost apparently!

Welcome to the group, Liz. I'm sure there will be some members who can recommend books on WWII Greece for you. I know some the volumes of the Time-Life series on World War II deal with Greece, but not sure if they have the detail you are looking for.

Welcome, Liz. You reminded me of having read:
