Welcome to the group Mark. Hope you find enough to interest you. My dad swore by Douglas Reeman, and got me into them too.

Welcome, Mark. I am U.S. Navy (Retired).

Welcome, Mark. We better make sure our naval book reviews are accurate! Have you tried The Cruel Sea ?

Welcome!

Cheers everyone.

Reeman and Forester novels are VERY hard to get in local libraries. As are Patrick O'Brian. (local means Cumbernauld/Stepps/Muirhead part of Central Scotland).

Welcome Mark, good to have you aboard (pun intended). This site has been a great source for building my to read list. I like all things history with a special interest in WW2. My dad served with the US Army in the Pacific and would not talk about it much which drove my curiosity. What do you do in the navy? Land based or sea duty? I like Douglas Reeman as well and have just started discovering more of the age of sail type novels.

Just joined.
I have published three novels about WW2 in the last four years. Books are about an American intelligence agent who conducts special missions behind Japanese line in China, Burma, India, Southeast Asia, and the Philippines.

I expect that I'll learn a lot (more than I bargained for).
Best,

Welcome to the group Mary. You will probably acquire many more books than you bargained for too.

let me add my welcome to the group
Welcome, Welcome!!
Please feel free to add you comments, questions or just feelings

Hi all, I'm Peter...new to the group. Interested in WWII history, especially the role played by women on the home front and overseas. My aunt, Edith Witt, served in the Red Cross Club Service in Oran and then in Italy. Book about her life, Edith's War: Writings of a Red Cross Worker and Lifelong Champion of Social Justice, is in pre-publication sale on Amazon. Interesting women and life. My uncle, Arthur Witt, was a member of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in Spain, killed Feb 27, 1937. My father fought at the Battle of Bulge. I was a war baby.

I'm new to 'Good Reads' so slowly finding my way around it all. Really enjoying it though.
I love Military History, and World War 2, so this seemed a good group to join.
My favorite thing is armored fighting vehicles. I love the Soviet tanks of ww2 and their German counterparts.
Anything about the war on the Eastern Front I find of interest. And I enjoy visiting military museums and going to re enactments.
It looks like there's going to be some interesting discussions on here.
G.

Welcome to the group, Grant. I'm sure you will find lots of suggestions on the Eastern Front as that's a pretty popular topic around here.
