An excellent recommendation Mike!

I'm sorry you feel that way Phyllis. Perhaps, like me, many are unfamiliar with the title. I have a decent library on WWII and have not heard of the book until I read about it today. Rest assured now that we are aware of it, the book will get more attention from the members here.

I am much interested to read about Jews.
I'll be grateful if you all share your most fav Fiction or Non-Fiction read about Jewish culture and Holocaust.
Thanks and Happy ..."
Thanks and I'll surely check that out!

Thanks for the recommendations. Both books look deep and wide. The second book about stories of survivors is at my top list now!

Thanks Marc for recommending such a deep and thought provoking read!
It looks heavy with details and strategies; will be my next read for sure.

I gravitated towards the group as you had "The Russian Revolution: A New History by Sean McMeekin" listed on the front page. It immediately appealed to me as a book I would like to read with the group. Besides, I have always been interested in the two world wars. However, mostly from a political as well as social history perspective rather than a military one. I hope that all kinds of perspectives abound in the group. I tend to read much more within the realm of literature, but hope that I will find plenty of rewarding books in the world of the two wars. I have much to learn from you all in these matters.

Let me first to welcome you to the group. You should be able to find something to read in your areas of interest

My name is Mike and I am new to this group. Thanks so much for accepting me. I am a History major and love to read about many topics in History, mainly US History and obviously, more specifically, World War II. Looking forward to reading and discussing the many events and people that made up this interesting and volatile time in History.

Welcome, Mike. Don't be shy about pitching in.

Let me add my welcome to the group
Welcome, Welcome!
You've come to the right place. There are quite of few of us that like history, not just WW II or military.

Welcome Mike, any specific WWII itch you'd like to scratch?

I'm JT and love reading thrillers and military fiction. One of my first WWII reads was Horrido and one of my favorite WWII reads is The Caine Mutiny. I also love Cold War reads and modern, not too sci-fi-ey military/war reads. I look forward to being a member of the community as I'm also an author who wants to learn about and from my fellow military readers. I recently published The King of Raqqa which is more along those modern lines.

Welcome to the group, J.T.
Was this the copy of Horrido! you read?

@Marc: Yes, that was it!"
That was the fourth Bantam War Book I bought, way back in around 1979 or 1980. Really loved it, and ended up grabbing the hardbound version several years later:

Enjoy! And after you've read my book please comment if you feel comfortable doing so, Cheers John Hickman

I think I posted on the wrong war~ I don't believe any war just ends~~

I think I know you from the Amazon Discussion Groups. If Aussie will allow a little more about WW I Books and since you mentioned the Woman's View
Two classics in the field are by Barbara Tuchman

And not exactly about WWI but this combines a woman's words and the view from the Balkans and the run up to WW II - kinda in line with your: "I don't believe any war just ends"

If you wish to further discuss the Great War here is a link to the thread covering that conflict:
