My name is Katriina, I'm a student, writer and panzer tank enthusiast. Currently I'm still in school - high school - my main focus being on business, economics and history. I'm from Finland, but I'm living in Germany at the moment.
Apart from Tanks I have a huge interest in the Holocaust, but most of my WWII themed books are about the SS, Wehrmacht, Hitlers foreign affairs and alot of "Third Reich's secret policies" as that's what I need for my A-Levels (or whatever the Abitur is called in English.) You do, most fortunately, get alot of WWII themed books where I live.
I'm looking forward to meeting people with the same interests and stumbling across some nice books! :)

You should be able to find a few books here to fatten up your TBR list :)"
Oh why, I already found lotssssss of interesting books. Such a shame that I didn't find this group before.
Thank you! :)

Katriina, one of my books, The Star of Africa was published in Finnish, which you may like, given your interests.

It only has one downside. If you don't know anything about the battle of Midway, you should skip it until later. Other than that it is flat awesome.

and this is worth a run through too:

My name is Charlie Smith, and I'm an author from Negaunee, Michigan. While I am interested in a broad range of both WWI and WWII topics, the aviation side of both wars piques my interest just slightly more than anything else.

Be warned = you're TBR lists are likely to grow exponentially and please feel free to join in the discussions - we don't bite :)
Matt great story about your father, he has by gratitude for his service
Charles it's always great to have another aviation buff here!

P.S. This is where you end up when following Happy. :)

Edward: You may like our books, or go to Heaton-Lewis Books or Amazon. All of our books are first person accounts.

To give you an idea of the type of man Oscar was, I will quote from the book where he was out retrieviing dummy torpedoes during practice. One of the 2 man planes got into trouble and was going to crash. The pilot panicked, through back his canopy so he could parachute to safety. This locked the other man in, the plane crashed and he died. They signaled Oscar to pick up the pilot, but Oscar ignored the signal. At the inquiry they asked him why he didn't pick up the pilot. Oscar replied that the s.o.b. had just killed his shipmate and I figured he could swim to shore!

Welcome, Hung. Please feel free to join in.

Welcome to the group, please feel free to add your thoughts - we don't bite.....................much :)

Welcome to the group and jump right into any discussion that interests you. Lots of great war stories to be found here.

P.S., Thanks for the welcome message 'Aussie Rick'!

Eric, I like your photo with the violin. My paternal grandfather served with the Marine Corps in WWI on the Western Front. During the Occupation of Germany he played the fiddle as an official member of his battalion small theater group to entertain his comrades and try to put the war behind them. Back in the states he kept the same violin always under his bed.
