Judah | 2 comments Hi all, just stumbled across this group while browsing around. I'm a fairly recent member of PBS...and thanks to Nancy, one of the members here, for turning me on to the site!

I've looked around PBS for Cormac McCarthy books, but there don't seem to be a lot listed. I don't suppose anyone here has a copy of either Child of God or Outer Dark by chance?

Thanks, Cynjon

Nancy Hi Cynjon,

The only Cormac McCarthy book I have is The Road. I go to a lot of library sales and used book stores, so will keep an eye out for you.

Sorry I didn't think to invite you to this group.

Nancy

Rachel | 39 comments I don't have any either. I will have to look up which books are his.

Nancy I've always wanted to read Cormac McCarthy, but for some reason or other never got around to it. Now I've finally added his books to my wishlist even though the wait is long since seeing the film No Country for Old Men.

Wow, what a great film! The acting, photography and direction were superb. Despite the fact the film was quiet and slow-moving, it was very bleak, dark, unsettling and full of tense moments. Anton Chigurh (played by Javier Bardem) was one of the creepiest characters I've seen lately.

So how does the film compare to the book?

Judah | 2 comments I highly recommend his books...they can be a bit dark (okay, more than "a bit" in some cases) but his style of writing makes it very worthwhile!

I haven't read No Country for Old Men yet....soon though!

Rachel | 39 comments I haven't seen the movie or read the book No Country for old men. Is the book better than the movie?

April Ann (bloomer) I thought NCFOM was a great film, I can't believe the book isn't terrific!
