Loved the trilogy. Also love the mysteries of Hennings Mankell, also a Swedish author. Come to think of it, Smilla's Sense of Snow is another on the top of my good mysteries I've read list! All Swedish...
Am almost finished...Spies of Warsaw. And it will be another 5 star for me. Noticed for stand alone's on Furst's web page or was it the Wikipedia. May see what I can do about getting them...
Julie wrote: "Reading Libby Fischer Hellman's SET THE NIGHT ON FIRE. Terrific historical. (Set int he late '60s)."
Is that 1960s? LOL I don't want my young adulthood called historical. (Walking away grumping.)
You're not kidding that's an LOL! Can't tell you how many time I tried to set the night on fire at the Fillmore Ballroom.

Absolutely love Denise Mina, she has a new one coming out fairly soon and Garnehill is one of my favorite novels.
Just finished Don't Breathe a Word which was very eerie and intense. Now reading The Inspector and Silence
I will be listening to Anything Goes - John Barrowman, A Certain Age - Lynne Truss, A Suitable Boy: BBC Radio 4 Full-cast Dramatisation - Vikram Seth and Boy A - Jonathan Trigell
I'm catching up on one of my favorite series, C. J. Box's Joe Pickett game warden series set in Wyoming. I'm currently reading Below Zero and just finished Blood Trail. I recommend them both--and the whole series.
Hey Beth, I'm with you on the Joe Pickett series. My favorite was the one set in Yellowstone, Free Fire. Haven't yet read Below Zero, so thanks for mentioning that. I'm currently reading the latest in the Kate Atkinson Jackson Brodie series: When Will There Be Good News. I love those books--although the first and the third are better than the second, IMHO.
I have finished listening to Anything Goes - John Barrowman, A Certain Age - Lynne Truss, A Suitable Boy: BBC Radio 4 Full-cast Dramatisation - Vikram Seth.
The Perfect DeceitAn intriguing and fascinating book on how countries vie against each other to be top dog on the world stage. Spies, double agents, love triangles -- it’s all in a days work! In today’s interconnected world, this book gives one an interesting perspective on how much competition goes on behind the scenes with ambitions and stakes running high. Hearts are broken and for some power is gained. Lots of mind games and high drama. Perfect summer read!
just finished Seduction in Death by jd robb and going to start with The Geneva Deception by james twining

Thanks to all of you for introducing me to C. J. Box. I downloaded the first book in the Warden Pickett series yesterday and really enjoyed it.

Finally finished Wilkie Collins' The Moonstone, which I absolutely loved. Started and finished Karin Slaughter's Fallen within 36 hours. A lot less literary than The Moonstone, but a really good read if you're already familiar with the characters and quite a page turner. I do hope that Slaughter hasn't finished with her characters. I am already looking forward to the next installment!
Anoter. Strong read. It is interesting how she has entwined her two series together. Due to the way. They number her books for the series I would check published dates and read that way. The charcters from the books and their actions builde in each book . Fallen b anote
Almost through Footsteps in the Dark...a great little vintage mystery. A haunted house, noises in the dark, quirky characters...
Monica wrote: "Almost through Footsteps in the Dark...a great little vintage mystery. A haunted house, noises in the dark, quirky characters..."I started Footsteps in the Dark last night, as part of my plan to read all of Georgette Heyer's mysteries this year. I already get the impression of a grown-up Secret Seven or Famous Five type of adventure, what with there being siblings amongst the main characters!
I'd like to introduce myself, and invite you to sign up for the giveaway of my recent book, BREAK ROOM ANTHOLOGY: MYSTERY AND HORROR STORIES. The book of twenty-five stories is available on Kindle, 99 cents, and will be available in paperback later this month.
Just finished Donna Leon's A Sea of Troubles. Good climax. Will probably try to finish PD James' A Mind to Murder or The Calling by Inger Asher Wolf. Do we know who that is yet?
Hi Jan, I have not heard who Inger Ashe Wolf is but I think there is another book in the series out or coming out soon.
Kim wrote: "I started Footsteps in the Dark last night, as part of my plan to read all of Georgette Heyer's mysteries this year. I've requested the next one, "Why Shoot a Butler" from the library.
Donna wrote: "The second book is called The Taken. Looks like it came out last year."Yes, and it was very good. Looking forward to the third one.
Just finished an Erica Spindler book - Copycat a nice little crime thriller. I've just started the next Det Jack Delaney book - Death Row which so far is just as good as the first two.
Curlyhair wrote: "Just finished an Erica Spindler book - Copycat a nice little crime thriller. I've just started the next Det Jack Delaney book - Death Row which so far is just as good ..."Just read Death Row recently, really like Mark Pearson, Jack Delaney is a great character.
Reading The Borrower by Rebecca Makkai and Smokin' Seventeen. Read Evanovich since the beginning of this series and even though I think they may be getting a little tired, habit prevails.
Donna wrote: "Hi Jan, I have not heard who Inger Ashe Wolf is but I think there is another book in the series out or coming out soon."Loved the Taken and there is a new one coming out soon, but I don;t know what the title is.
Without Consent. Set in austraila. Forensic patholigist who works in the sexual victims unit.strong 4.5 stars

Some are better than others, but I've had lots of fun reading all of them. For a while I was reading them with Dorothy L Sayers novels turn and turn about, but I sadly ran out of Sayers!
jan c.....leon one of my top choices. brunetti is such a (mostly) calm, cool and down to earth guy. eletra, the office computer genius and matchless spy, is a damsel to be wished for. so good is leon at depicting venice that you can visualize the gondolas being paddled.
Thank you to all who were discussing the books by Inger Ash Wolfe earlier. I hadn't heard of her/him? But I downloaded the first book and was impressed. I do not like books with serial killers but I found the other characters so interesting that I will have to read the next book The Taken. We were terrorized for many years by a real serial killer here in Wichita so I find books about them too creepy. (by we I meant the people of Wichita not me personally.)
