Currently Reading? Just Finished?
Recently I finished The Body in the Library which was a book by AC I hadn't read before. I liked it but can't say it's my favorite. And the voice for Miss Marple sounded so young! So that means that now I'm up to two favorite books in the Poirot and Miss Marple series...don't know which one I'll listen first!!
Anyhow, just today I started Dead Run. So far the beginning is really slow. I understand building the atmosphere and all that but I've listened to 20 minutes and so far, nobody from the previous books has shown up.
It is with great sadness that I finish the last book in John Dunning's series featuring Cliff Janeway...The Bookwoman's Last Fling: A Cliff Janeway Novel...I thoroughly enjoyed these books and will miss Cliff!
Just finished Deeper Than the Dead Very good, 4-star read for me and will definitely continue with the series. Will begin Castle Cay next.

I was kind of bored with Dead Run, as compared to the rest of the Monkeewrench series.

T wrote: "D.G. ~Shameless Hussy~ wrote: "I was kind of bored with Dead Run, as compared to the rest of the Monkeewrench series."I finished it, but it was my least favorite of the three Monkeewrench books I've read. Actually, the first one is the only one I kept to re-read.

I finished Cemetery of Secrets (also known as Lucifer's Shadow) by David Hewson and loved it. Now I am reading The Executor by Jesse Kellerman. I am about half way through and not really enjoying it that much. The Brutal Art was so much better.Does it improve, should I keep reading, I am just not sure.
T wrote: "was kind of bored with Dead Run, as compared to the rest of the Monkeewrench series."This reference reminded me to check if there were more books out in the series (I didn't like Dead Run particularly either) but thought I'd check again if the library had them. They did/do so downloaded Shoot to Thrill and will pick up Snow Blind from my local library the next time I go it since they don't have it for Kindle. Would be happy to see the series improving again.

But then, I listen to them in audio and I think the narrator is marvelous. He's great with the characters and building up suspense.
Also, this book is more suspense than mystery.

As usual, I read them out of order, I think I've read all but the newest....Dead Run was definitely my least favorite, and the first one was the best.
Just finished Zero History by William Gibson. Fun book, but not nearly as enjoyable as Spook Country. I like Gibson a lot, but this one just didn't have much meat on the bone.
Just finished 'The Boy-Bishop's Glovemaker'by Michael Jecks,an historical mystery set in Exeter during the reign of Edward II(No.10 in a long series).Interesting story, slightly bizarre ending. This book, and indeed the whole series is spoiled by the constant repetition of facts.
I give a try to steampunk, I began
Though the beginning is a bit fuzzy (purposely ?) now, I'm taken in.

Tim, it appears that you and I share much the same taste in favorite authors. I like your recommendations!
I have just finished The Executor by Jesse Kellerman and I found it really disturbing. Not sure what to read next I need something a bit lighter.
just finished sir arthur conan doyle - the adventure of charles augustus milvertona good short story of sherlock holmes
I just finished the first two "Art History" myteries by Iain Pears: The Raphael Affair and The Titian Committee. They were short, fun and well written. I will read the rest of the series.
I'm now reading an oldie published in 1940-something: Bodies in a Bookshop which is also fun.

I'm wondering whether to start reading the Ian Rankin books - I haven't read any yet - but am a little worried that they may be spoiled as I've seen some of the Rebus TV series. What do others think?
Still enjoying Death comes to Pemberly and with snow in the forecast for tonight I might just curl up with the book and a cup a tea and finish my visit with Elizabeth and Darcy.
Just finished the lastest in Susan Hill's Simon Serrailler series The Betrayal of Trust and am starting Elizabeth George's Believing the Lie. I have been waiting for this next (large) installment in the Thomas Lynley series!
Just finished Savage Seasonby Joe R. Lansdale. I read it in two days...fast-paced, action packed...a lot of fun. The characters are enjoyable and the setting and dialogue add to the down-home charm. The story itself wasn't much of a mystery, but that's not the point. If you're looking for a fun escape, this is it.

That is the book read for Feb/March,
. I just bought the book. I too haven't read any of his books and thought the book read was a good opportunity to expand.
Ian Rankin's books are great. Especially loved number 1 Knots and Crosses, and Hanging Gardens. They are great to read in order if you can. I think seeing the series is no distraction to reading the books. The Rebus books were all put on my kindle Fire as a surprise.I look forward to Bleeding Hearts

I hate that they do that. Susan Albert Whitig does that with her China Bayles series. I know some backgound is required for those who haven't read the series, but it is so easy to overdo.
Just finished Wyatt's Revenge: A Matt Royal Mystery definitely more of a thriller than a mystery, but a fast-paced, interesting read. First book I've read by this author but will be looking for more.

Die Trying
finished yesterday. Bad Luck And Trouble
started today. Audio books. Amazing how many books you can add to your yearly reading by listening to one while you get dressed & put on your makeup for work.

Just finished all of Val McDermid's "Tony Hill" books, followed by Michael Connelly's new Harry Bosch, "The Drop", and Margaret Maron's new Judge Deborah Knott, "Three-Day Town". I'm presently reading Vince Flynn's new Mitch Rapp, "Kill Shot". I'd love to read a book in which Joe Pike, Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp and Win Lockwood are teamed up. Can you imagine??? (laughing)
Pete wrote: "I'm still getting over the incredible fact that Reacher survived the explosion in the end of 61 Hours. Nevertheless, glad to see him fight another day."
When I finished that one I was sobbing in bed...I was convinced Lee had become weary of writing about our hero and had killed him off!

I'm okay with the gore, but the grimness turned me off, as well. No more Slaughter for me!
from sir arthur conan doylethe adventure of three students
the adventure of the crooked man
the adventure of the yellow face
Just finished Before I Go to Sleepwhich I'm not even sure is a real mystery, but it was disappointing. I'm currently reading The Blue Edge Of Midnightand am on around page 50 and having a hard time getting into it. I also just picked up The Hot Rock, and although I didn't realize how "light" it is in some respects, I'm enjoying it.

Will be interested in your reaction. This is one of my more recent 'favorites'. I grew up in the area where these mysteries are set, can even pick out some of the people that contributed to the characters and he he really does the location right. Reading the blizzard in the Big Horn Mountains scene, I was very glad I was reading the book during summertime in KY. I've been in a blizzard on top of the Big Horn Mountains!
