Brandon Simmons (Troutschool) | 6 comments An upcomming salt water vacation has my mind stuck on bonefish. Could you inspire me with your favorite saltwater authors and/or specific stories? I am specifically looking for bonefish stories, but I know it is futile to ignore Tarpon and Permit.
I will begin the compilation with:
Sea Level by Cardenas, Guiding Light in the Keys by Harrison, and Southern Salt by McGuane.
[Please omit how-to handbook accounts, as always. Thanks:]

Hello. I would suggest:

Bonefishing! by Randall Kaufmann . . .

http://www.kaufmannsstreamborn.com/Ca...

. . . is a saltwater fly fishing title of Biblical proportion in regards to its length (400+ pages), extensive photos, extensive artwork, and high price ($79.95).

Although this book includes plenty of destination and how-to material, there are also stories and other passages worthy of the term Literature.

And of course there is Thomas McGuane. I have a hardcover 1st edition of An Outside Chance: Essays on Sport, the fishing essays of which were included in The Longest Silence: A Life in Fishing . . .

Enjoy your vacation . . .

Brandon Simmons (Troutschool) | 6 comments Thanks. Yesterday I found another McGuane treasure: Close to the Bone (also in The Longest Silence).
