message 2537: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments Which (horror) book gave you chills, nightmares ?
I haven't read a lot of horror books recently, some but not that gave me nightmares, last time that might have happened is when I was a kid...goosebumps books scared me as a kid...and I loved every second of it lol. I read some Stephen King books as a young teen that I mostly didn't understand yet.

What's your biggest fear ?
Being left alone to die a painful death. I'm disabled and if left on my own it wouldn't end pretty. My biggest "normal" fear is spiders.

Which supernatural monster is your favorite ?
Vampires!

1. What book, series, movie etc. got you into horror?
2. What horror setting(s) do you love? Haunted house, woods, any setting
3. What are your favorite genres besides horror?

message 2538: by [deleted user] (new)

What book, series, movie etc. got you into horror? R.L. Stine for books, The Exorcist for movies.

What horror setting(s) do you love? Anything in space is exceptionally scary for me. There is so much unknown out there and it can't all be happy aliens holding hands singining "Kum-bay-ah."

What are your favorite genres besides horror? I'm not too picky, actually, but I tend to gravitate towards literary fiction.

1. What is your least favorite chore?
2. Who with, in your life, do you share your love of horror?
3. What real-life haunted place could you see yourself visiting?

message 2539: by Ken B (new)

Ken B | 6810 comments 1. What is your least favorite chore? - Cleaning the cat box.
2. Who with, in your life, do you share your love of horror? - unfortunately, I had no kindred souls until HA. Now I've got hundreds of "friends".
3. What real-life haunted place could you see yourself visiting? - So many...Eastern State Penitentiary, Myrtles Plantation, Bachelor's Grove Cemetery, Gettysburg Battlefield....

1. How old were you when you read your first "adult" horror novel and what was it?
2. How old were you when you watched your first "adult" horror movie and what was it?
3. What was your favorite Christmas gift?

message 2540: by Shari-amor (new)

Shari-amor | 363 comments 1.How old were you when you read your first "adult" horror novel and what was it? It was Bag of Bones by Stephen King. I was like 11 or 12 when my momma's bff bought it for me.

2.How old were you when you watched your first "adult" horror movie and what was it? I was like 4 or 5. Nightmare on Elm Street.

3. What was your favorite Christmas gift? My little sister got me the movies Deadpool and Suicide Squad with flasks to match the color themes of each of the movie box covers.

3. If you were offered the chance to run a bookstore, would you take it or are you happy with the job/career you currently have!?

message 2541: by Marie (new)

Marie | 4031 comments 1) Have you problems with lending someone a book?
Sometimes depending on if the person is reliable on sending it back. I lost a bunch of horror books a few times to a co-worker as they ended up keeping them and moving away.

2) Do you prefer real books or e-readers?
I love my kindle, but I do like to read real books too.

3) Do you like buying books others have read or new unused books?
The answer to this one is both. I buy books at bargain stores but I will also buy new books too.

1) Do you like hardback books or paperback books?
2) How long to do you spend time in a bookstore?
3) If you go on vacation, how many books do you take with you?

message 2542: by Wayward Skyril (new)

Wayward Skyril 1. Both, really. I can never decide which I prefer.

2. In a bookstore.... generally about 45 minutes, but if it's a used bookstore with good deals, especially if it's a big one, 60-90 minutes, easy.

3. Depends on how long the vacation is and how thick the books, but generally two.

1. What kind of atmosphere do you need to sleep?

2. What would you eat if you were snowed in?

3. Besides horror, what genres do you love?

message 2543: by Sebastien (new)

Sebastien | 20 comments Answers:

1. Cold air, with hot covers in a dark room with only a little moonlight coming in. I find the sound of a fan or something else to act as white noise necessary and if I have my cat with me, that's even better.

2. I'd hope that I have a full fridge that I could eat from. If not, I suppose I'd just have to eat my legs.

3. Fantasy. Without a doubt. I also like sci-fi, and drama (though I do feel that almost any good story needs some good drama).

Questions:

1. What are three books you wish you read as a child?

2. What was your first introduction to horror fiction?

3. What is a book that you would NOT like to be the protagonist of?

message 2544: by Ken B (new)

Ken B | 6810 comments 1. What are three books you wish you read as a child? - Assuming that the books had been published....I would have read anything from authors Roald Dahl, John Bellairs and RL Stein. The YA horror genre (without sparkly vampires) has exploded since I was a kid!

2. What was your first introduction to horror fiction? I read Amityville Horror when I was in 7th grade, which would have been shortly after it was published.

3. What is a book that you would NOT like to be the protagonist of? The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

message 2548: by Ken B (new)

Ken B | 6810 comments 1. The Italian Secretary: A Further Adventure of Sherlock Holmes by Caleb Carr. A really bad Holmes pastiche that certainly ruined me on reading anything else that Carr has written, even after being assured that his other novels are worth the effort.

2. Anne Rice...more hate than love. Love the ideas. Hate, hate, hate the presentation.

3. Poe, "Who is Reynolds?"

1. What is the first horror book you read?
2. What is your favorite non-horror genre?

1. The first horror book that I read was Carrie by Stephen King.
2. Given I'm in the right mood, albeit rarely, I'm a sucker for a romance.
3. If I could forget I read this book, and then re-read, it would probably have to be the collection of short stories Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King because I enjoyed it so much, and would love to read again not knowing the outcome.

Now, my questions for you:

1. If you could alter any historical event, what would it be and why?
2. If you had the chance to chat with death row inmates, would you?
3. What's your favourite food to have for breakfast?

message 2550: by Nicki (new)

Nicki | 70 comments My answers (this is an old thread, but there are so many cool new people, I thought we could bump it up and get to know each other)!

1. The Holocaust. As Indy says, I hate Nazis.
2. If I was writing a book or article, yes. Other than that, not by choice, no.
3. Cornflakes with strawberries or bananas. If I’m feeling decadent, both.

My questions for the next person:

1. Who is the strangest person you’ve ever met?
2. Do you like to swim? Why or why not?
3. What or who is your spirit animal?
