Lets talk about the April group read. How are you finding it? like it so far. If you've already read the book feel free to jump in too!!

Got a spoiler post? Please put it in the **spoilers** thread for this book so anyone who hasn't finished the book yet can choose to read them or not. Thanks!

A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole

(This seems to be the first book in the series but there is also a short story in an anthology, "The Warlord Wants Forever" I saw in the comments on the poll this can be read online. Anyone?

message 2: by Ladyacct (new)

Ladyacct | 65 comments The Warlord Wants Forever is in an anthology with a S. Kenyon and J Black viking story. You will not be disappointed by any story in the anthology. The Warlord Wants forever is Myst's story and well worth the anthology alone. Really good reads!!!

The Immortal series by Kresley Cole I believe is up to seven full length novels and not one of them are 'bad' reads. This is one series I get AS SOON AS it is released.

Enjoy! I know you will.

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) i thought we were reading the first book of the immortals after dark series, The Warlord Wants Forever or is that not the first.

message 4: by Lauren (new)

Lauren I have already read this book and im waiting for the new release to come out as well. I love every single book! everyone i pick up i can't put down until i am done.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I love this series. I'm with Lauren!

Sorry eveyone but I'm confussed here. I am not sure what actually comes first. The first full length book is A Hunger Like No Other, is that correct? It is listed as book one on Amazon but not on Goodreads, hence my confussion! And The Warlord Wants Forever is a short story from the anthology.

I thought that short stories in anthologies were usually extra to the main books and did not have to be read? (like the Sookie ones)

Someone who has read the books do we actually start with the short story or the first full book? There were confusing comments in the suggestions thread some saying to read it, others that it was not necessary??

Sorry again, I don't mean to mess things up!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Here is the correct order:

The Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark, #1) by Kresley Cole A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole No Rest for the Wicked (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #4) by Kresley Cole Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Immortals After Dark, #5) by Kresley Cole Dark Desires After Dusk (Immortals After Dark, #6) by Kresley Cole Kiss of a Demon King (Immortals After Dark, #7) by Kresley Cole Deep Kiss of Winter (Includes Immortals After Dark, #8; Alien Huntress, #5) by Kresley Cole Pleasure of a Dark Prince (Immortals After Dark, #9) by Kresley Cole

It's best to read The Warlord Wants Forever first.

Thanks Danielle.

So I'm correct in saying that The Warlord Wants Forever is a short story that introduces the Immortals Ater Dark series. But that the first proper book in the series is A Hunger Like No Other?

Should we therefore be reading the short story? Is this easy to get hold off?

Or do we go with the first full length book and catch up on the short story later as I saw in someones review the events take place at the same time.

message 10: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) completely confused then. if the first is a short story i rather read a hunger like no other.

message 11: by Lauren (new)

Lauren I actually read a hunger like no other first. it didn't really mess up anything for me. I read the warlord wants forever when it was a free download. (after the kiss of the demon king) it would have been nice to read it first but i would not go all over the place looking for it, if i already had a hunger like no other.

message 12: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) okaiexz..thanks.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 49 comments LOL, okay, the read is starting with the first full length book A Hunger Like No Other. The Warlord Wants Forever is simply a short story that was originally available in an anthology, but can no be downloaded for free (someone must have the URL...). I've read all of the full length books, but neither of the short stories, although I plan to in the near future. You're perfectly fine starting off with this book. =)

message 14: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) The Warlord Wants Forever should technically be read first because it introduces the series and Myst and Nikolai play certain roles in A Hunger Like No Other. However, AHLNO is the first "novel" in the series whereas TWWF is a "novella" in an anthology. I have the link to the free download if anyone wants to read it first:

Leigh (llogan24) awesome! thanks, Pherocious!! :)

message 16: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) No problem, Leigh! Glad to help :)

Diane | 70 comments Thanks Leah for the link. I have beening looking for the novella for ages.

message 19: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) No problem, Diane. I downloaded it when it was on Gena Showalter's blog as a free read so I figured I might as well share it with all you guys :D

Is anyone reading the novella? I just started it and like it a lot so far. Decided I would read this as well as A Hunger Like No Other (which I am still waiting to be delivered).

message 21: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot Brilliant! Will try to have a look at the novella(thanks for the link!)and then read the book which has been loitering around my bookshelf for over a year waiting to be read.

I have just fnished reading The Warlord Wants Forever which I have enjoyed. Really looking forward to the first full length book A Hunger Like No Other now, it should be good :) I found the story between Wroth and Myst interesting and it seemed to cover quite a alot of ground in 113 pages yet didn't feel rushed. I found their relationship dynamic to be unsusual.

message 23: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) I totally agree, Jen. It was fast paced but not rushed. If you enjoyed that, you'll love AHLNO. Lachlain is my absolute favorite character, with Garreth second :) Of course, all the other characters are fantastic, too :)

message 24: by Eve (new)

Eve Langlais (evelanglais) Lachlain was awesome, but Garreth made me laugh.

I have just started A Hunger Like No Other and am really enjoying it so far. Think I will like this book as I already like the world it is set in after reading The Warlord Wants Forever.

Leah -- thank you for the link. Just downloaded it and hoping to transfer it my Kindle. :)

message 27: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) No problem, Regina :)

message 28: by Tonia (new)

Tonia | 19 comments okay, I just finished the short story The Warlord Wants Forever and I really liked it. The characters are awesome and the plot was very well written and extremely detailed. I can't wait to start reading AHLNO. I have it on my bookshelf waiting for me to start it.

message 29: by Deon (new)

Deon | 6 comments I didn't like a hunger like no other.. Two friends highly recommended the series. and I'm gonna read those when I have nothing to read....

Its just that the first book in the series is supposed to draw me in and this didn't. Emma just kept flip flopping and I didn't like that. At times she seemed weak. then she was strong again.
She likes him, then she doesn't. Then near the end she is in love with Lykae..
I don't buy it.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 405 comments I have to say I loved this book, Lachlain and Emma are my fave couple. But i am very bias as Lachlain is just my fave man in the whole series so far!

I liked how Emma went from wimp to chopping the king of the vampires (her father) into three pieces! She definately acquired a back bone in these books, even if she did give into Lachlain, but who wouldn't he is a very sexy Lykae!

message 32: by Felon (new)

Felon | 68 comments Lachlain dug his way through a house to get to her! That my friends was impressive

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 405 comments That was indeed, and he tore of his leg to get out of those shackles, just because he smelt her nearby. Now that's devotion!
