I like the ballads and the 'flamenco' equally. Of course, the flamenco does make me want to get up and dance and smash a glass to the floor, so I guess I should be careful, huh.
I was thinking.. wonder who the biggest "star" was so far? Have they ever had an A list star on?

I think that the biggest stars have probably been the athletes--especially the gold medal winners who are, admittedly, the A-list in their field. And maybe Jerry Rice--I mean, I don't follow football but even *I* know how amazing the guy's career has been. I think some of the singers are popular in their own genre, like Jewel (well, she never actually was on the show, but was supposed to be) but it's not like we're seeing the likes Johnny Depp two-stepping it across the floor any time soon.
Wouldn't that be great if they got Johnny Depp!! I think we can dream on... :D

Hi Everyone! I'm Mona. I was a little surprised at the results. I thought that Niecy would be the one to go. But I guess she is getting the votes "from all the thick girls everywhere with jiggly parts." :) I think that's getting a little old.I would have to say my favorite performance so far this season is Nicole & Derek's Tango where she was wearing the long red dress. She looked absolutely stunning.

There has to be a ghost writer in the mix somewhere.
Did you know that Kate was a nurse before she become "famous"? I saw her say in an interview that she would be a nurse again if all fell apart. Hmmm...can you imagine Kate Gosselin as your nurse?!
Judging from Kate's sour looks on DWTS, I couldn't imagine that she would have been much comfort to her patients.
My 2 fave pros, Max & Tony never win. Tony always seems to get paired with what Len refers to as the "less talented dancers." Frankly I'm surprised Kate lasted as long as she did.

I love Derek, but he does seem to get the more talented dancers, with Max and Tony getting the lesser talented.
Sorry for the delay. I was out of town this past weekend and laptop was either slow or kept crashing. Anyway...I think it's because Tony is one of the nicer/more gentleman-like pros. But Kate even tried HIS patience by suggesting he didn't know how to teach.

It's funny that you said Giles and Cheryl should have won because I thought they were absolutely great together - but - at the last minute I changed my vote to Shawn because I believed (and still do) that she started as an uptight and scared-stiff dancer to a woman who was not afraid to show her sexy side and who had improved the most as a dancer. But I did LOVE Giles! Maya & Dimitry should have won too, but Donny is so likeable and has a huge fan base. BTW, Kate was a baby nurse!
Yes, I agree that Shawn did loosen up in the later shows but I had a hard time seeing her as sexy. Maybe they didn't want to break the Olympian winning streak.Yes Donny is likeable. But Maya and Dimitry were better dancers.
Kate was NOT likeable and she got the nicest pro, Tony. I guess Kate's experience as a baby nurse served her well. She does not come across as very maternal/nurturing to me.
A baby nurse... interesting bit of trivia! Maybe that explains why she had some many kids. Wonder if the ratings have gone down since Kate left? They said she was the big draw; her and Pamela!

I absolutely agree. I also can't stand to hear her or look at her, Definitely some sort of problem there.
What did everyone think of DWTS last night? I missed some of it but I thought Nicole & Derek should have gotten 10's! I love the song choice too (you light up my life) - beautiful!! Niecy was good; wonder who will go tonight?
I thought that ANNA/EVAN & MAX/ERIN were the best. As far as team dance, TEAM GAGA was better. Joy, I agree with you, YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE is a beautiful song.
I am so jealous of Cheryl--all those DIAMONDS from Chad. I'll bet the other female pros are green with envy. I wonder what his wife thinks about him giving Cheryl all this bling. But, then again, maybe she makes him get her something too.

I didn't know Chad was married... I suppose Niecy will go next. I like her bcause she was on a Monk episode and Monk was one of my favorite shows. Irrational maybe but there you have it!
He's not? I thought I saw his kids in the audience sometimes. But then you don't have to be married to have kids. Maybe he's temporarily unattached. Or...maybe he's looking to get with Cheryl. I liked MONK too.

I know that Maxsim & Karina Smirnoff were engaged and then broke up. I then noticed that Max & Cheryl were partnering together a lot during the pros' dances on DWTS results day. What do you think?
I don't think Max wants to be with anyone for very long - he's the George Clooney of DWTS! ;)

Whew! I was so afraid that Pamela Anderson was going to stay and Erin go. That would have been horribly wrong.
At least Pam didn't cry like Jake (you can probably tell I didn't care for him)! Erin is a better dancer than Pam. It was funny - I heard Pam say she felt uncomfortable in the outfits they gave her to wear and that they were afraid she would explode out of her clothes!

I actually thought Niecy would be going home. I was shocked that ERIN/MAX in bottom 2. I thought it would be PAM/DAMIEN & NIECY/LOUIS. But I'm glad ERIN didn't go home.
Joy, I think Len referred to them as "BAZOOKAS." That's a new one.
Donny Osmond won because, I think, A) he knows how to put on a show (even if he wasn't technically the best dancer), B) he wasn't a bitch, and C) he has a huge fan base, and a lot of that fan base is DWTS' target audience.I called it for Mr. Osmond when I heard the cast list last season.

His dancing vastly improved, too.
I agree that DONNY was definitely more likable than MAYA. But I do like DMITRY as a pro. KYM is ok.Did you know that MARY MURPHY(that annoying loud screaming judge from SYTYCD who probably had a thing for DMITRY) tried out for a pro position on DWTS along with her friend, LOUIS VAN AMSTEL? She didn't make it.

Actually, she used to be really skinny -- she's gained quite a bit of weight. But I still didn't think that she was that great a dancer and she's a judge? I found 1 video on YouTube of her dancing with Dmitry but the quality was bad.My husband can't stand her voice.
BTW, if anybody watches, So You Think You Can Dance starts on May 27th with a 2-hr season premiere. I read they are doing things differently this year--only 1 contestant eliminated per week so every other week there will be an odd number of people. Also, the contenders may not necessarily be dancing as couples.
I also hear Mary "Tamale Train" Murphy is not a permanent judge this year, which is great news if true.
Yes, that is good news. My brother asked me what the heck is a "TAMALE TRAIN" anyway. I have no clue. It makes no sense.

You're welcome. BTW, I think the wrong person won last year. IMO, Kathryn deserved to win.Are you an American Idol fan? I wasn't too surprised by the results this week. I didn't really care for the theme but Harry Connick Jr. was great as the mentor--great sense of humor. And, I must say , he worked harder than the other mentors. He composed all the arrangements, brought his own band(which kinda was a little too loud so it mad it hard to hear the singing). Maybe it's me but Harry's face looked a little weird when he was performing like one side was paralyzed.
Lady Gaga is a little out there but I admit I enjoyed her performance. Her music is catchy. I'll have to listen to more of her stuff. On DWTS, Team GAGA danced to her song TELEPHONE which I also enjoyed.
Did anyone watch DWTS last night? I saw most of it. I think Nicole and Derek will win for sure - they might as well hand them that mirror ball thing now!! I think Niecy will go tonight.
Yes, Joy, I watched last night, and I agree that Nicole and Derek are awesome and should win the whole thing. I was so glad that they got a well-deserved 30. The 29 should have been a 30, too. Yeah, Niecy will probably go tonight. She really should, although I've enjoyed her. Erin and Max did well last night, too. I thought her leap/jump, whatever it's called, was great. However, they still aren't at the level of Nicole and Derek. Chad and Cheryl have done some nice dances, enjoyed the one last week especially, but Chad is just nowhere near the champion level.
Yes, Kathryn, I like Rodrigo y Gabriella, too. His rendition of "Stairway to Heaven" sounded wonderful in the sample I listened to on Amazon.
