Hi Gaijinmama. Welcome to the group. I'm glad you like the book recommendations.
I've read one of the later Pattison books set in Tibet and I was a bit confused. Should I have started with the first in the series?
What do you think of his new series? I haven't read any yet but it looks interesting.

Hi Gaijinmama, I've read most of Sharyn McCrumb's books. I really enjoy reading them. The last one I read, Ghost Riders, kind of creeped me out and made me sad. Made me want to make the same kind of protective quilt the civil war enactors sat on while the ghosts rode by!

I'm fast becoming a GoodReads addict. Just realized I never introduced myself here.
I'll read anything as long as it's good. I have too many authors to list but off the top of my head, I'd say I very much enjoy a crime/suspense novel that also includes well-researched historical or cultural details. For example, I love Sharyn McCrumb because her books have a lot of Appalachian folklore and ballads, and Eliot Pattinson because his stories take place in Tibet.
Can't help it, I'm a teacher and Geekiness is in my blood. I like to be surprised, creeped-out, and hopefully learn something new when I read.
Anyway, that's me. Looking forward to getting more involved, and keep those great book recommendations coming!
