I read this book for a class. The writing style is simple, but the story is compelling. I've heard many stories about American hardships during war, but this book offers a view from the other side. I'd recommend this book to all my friends.

I read this book for class over six years ago and it changed my life. My mother passed away when I was 12, two years before I read this. I didn't know what cremated meant so when I read it in this book I sobbed/cried..
