Shaun posted it for us! Great to get free books, isn't it? :)
I posted this in another topic, but you can get the Kindle app for your PC for free. That's what I did last night.
Thanks, Lee! That's something to look into. Is that on amazon.com, too?
Jeannette wrote: "Thanks, Lee! That's something to look into. Is that on amazon.com, too?"It is. If you go to Kindle Store and then Kindle for PC ~ you can download it right there. Then you can search for anything you can buy (or get for free) via Kindle and download it to your PC. :o)
You can do the same thing for Barnes and Noble's Nook. Head to Barnes and Noble's website and download their E-Reader. Any books you can get free for your Nook are available there as well.
I downloaded mp3 audiofiles for The Mysteries of Udolpho from librivox.org. The book is read aloud by volunteers. There is no charge to download the files.
I am still searching for a copy of Udolpho at used bookstores, as I have been wanting to read this but would really prefer to hold a battered (or not) copy as I am pleasantly horrified by Ms. Radcliffe's writing. Alas, I may have to break down and just read the digital version. It is great to have the option at least :) Thanks for sharing!
I have obtained an actual printed copy too. I have enough arthritis that I can't really sit for prolonged periods at the computer screen, so I will just go the old-fashioned route.
Sarah - on a side note, it has been lovely to see you on the Victorians! group site. It's great to have a fellow Janeite in other groups :)

Reading on my big computer screen tires my eyes, but I usually try to avoid buying books I don't know. I always get annoyed with myself when I pay for a book that is less than "stellar". (I'm cheap!)

I wish I had your ability to hold back Jeannette! I love to buy books whenever I can (although I usually prefer used, so most often they are a bit cheaper). My dream is to one day have a library with floor to ceiling bookshelves full of books (complete with one of those sliding ladders)!

I am definitely an "odd duck" among my friends on Goodreads. I use the library quite a bit and only buy a book if I really like it, or if it is part of a series I am reading/buying. I am more of an impulse buyer when it comes to movies, but even then I am pretty restrained. (I do buy a bit of manga -- my weakness).

I would like to have the library from Disney's Beauty and the Beast! :)
I don't buy many books, either. I figure that if I want to read a book again, I will be able to find it much more easily at the library than in my house. I do have copies of all Jane Austen's novels except Mansfield Park. I have two copies of Pride and Prejudice--a paperback for reading in the tub and a hardback for the rest of the time.

Oh my gosh, when was that built?

Thanks very much Joy. I think that is one of the best groups on GoodReads. I have not been able to participate much through the winter but I was in on some of the fall discussions. Our two groups have some other members in common too. I hope to read their next group pick.

Jeannette, sticking to my book-buying budget has been one of my main goals this year, so I don't think you are too out there. I am trying to limit myself to trades and used stores only unless there is just something I can't find for a group that begins soon. I really only have so much space in my house too!

That is amazing! Yes, please!
Thanks for sharing Jeannette :)
It is a beautiful library, still in use. Clicking on the link brings up the full-sized picture (the library is not very large, but I always like to peek in when I'm at the Capitol.) If I find more info about it, I'll post it Sarah.
