I wonder what direction the author is going to take in this book next. I’m very intrigued by the author’s story and plot so far. At first it started out by introduce characters that were all involved with politics, and I was a little discouraged, but then it took a very interesting turn involving NASA. It took awhile to get into the real story, but I’m curious to see where it will lead. I don’t want to give anything away, but the story line took a huge turn when it revealed evidence regarding something that seemed physically impossible. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The time went quickly because I was so interested in the book. So far, this book is a very good read and I can get through it quickly because it’s so interesting. It has a storyline ANTITHETICAL to anything I’ve ever read before. While I was reading I didn’t even notice how much time was going by. That’s a very good thing for me, because it means I was paying attention to the story and I wasn’t getting distracted easily by constantly looking up at the clock. I also noticed that my comprehension while reading is improving slightly, I don’t have to look up as many words as usual.

An allusion is when there’s a reference to something outside of the book you’re reading. This applies to my book because there have been allusions referring to some of the NASA space programs. In the book, a politician is describing how funds are ill-spent on ineffective NASA programs. His opponent then ALLUDES to previous missions, such as the first moon landing and so forth. This allusion contains a positive connotation because of the sense of patriotism it promotes.
Special effects include the use of understatement, hyperbole, alliteration, and repetition in the written work. Repetition for affect applies to my book. The same politician I was discussing before uses that strategy to get the voters attention. He repeats his position about NASA funding numerous times to UNDERGIRD his ideas.

I really like how the author choose to start of the book. Just by reading the first sentence of the book got me hooked to continue reading it.

I'm glad you're really getting into your book. It's always a good thing to be really interested only after the first sentence. I hope it turns out to be a really good book. I'm really interested to know what the book is about in general. I hope you enjoy it :)

I was surprised by the METHODOLOGY that the author chose for this book. First her mother dies and now I found out that Ellen had been raped by her father one night while he was drinking with his colored friends. Although I had kind of predicted that something like that would end up happening to her but I didn’t think it would happen so soon. It was also surprising to hear that Ellen had a friend named Starletta who was a colored girl and was younger than her. Poor Ellen ever since her mothers death she has just been moving around everywhere I mean doesn’t she have family like aunts, or a grandmother that cares for her and wants to help her. Her teacher has been allowed to SCAFFOLD her by giving her shelter and a place to live until they found somewhere for Ellen to go. Why won’t her family do it though?

The time went quickly this time around because I was alone at home and had no distractions. My isolating made it FEASIBIL for me to read that I even decided to read a couple pages I had already read just to refresh my mind again. I wanted to continue reading once I started but then I figured since it’s a short book I would probably be done with it so I decided to stop. It was really interesting to begin with and the more I read the better is getting. I also came across words I didn’t know which allowed me to sometimes infer its meaning by the words that surrounded it.

Some of the special effects that the author brings to this story is the allusion of History. Back in the days when black were referred to colored people and lived in separate communities. I can tell that the characters are from the south because they use the form of “mama” and “colored people” and other that just give me an allusion of the past. The author uses repetition for effect when something bad is happening I think to grab out attention. I’m guessing that the whole going back to the past and the future could also be seen as repetition for effect.

It seems like it kind off takes a while to get to a good parts in the book your reading but I’m glad to hear that you’re almost there and for the most part that you’re enjoying it. For my book I thought it would be the same thing but it’s the opposite from the start it’s hooking and I’m also curious as to where it will lead as well.

I was surprise when the story continues revealing secrets that I believe the reader could not figure out until a reader has read the story. As Christopher trying to figure out what has happen to the killer of the dog Willington he started to make a story out of it and in the book he EXEMPLIFY with pictures. For example in his book he drew his neighbor’s house number line up with square sketches. The surprise of the book was when Christopher’s neighbor Mrs. Alexander told him that why his father hated Mr. Shears the ex husband of Mrs. Shears was that Mr. Shears and Christopher’s mother had an affair. Christopher got this information by mistake because he was try to find out who kill Willington the dog which he is trying to figure out as a detective.

The time went quickly because the story was getting exited and was trying to figure as I read why Christopher’s mother and Mr. Shears had an affair. My question was, did both of the partners of relationship didn’t have DISSONANCE? And that is why their marriage did not succeed. I ORCHESTRATE ideas of how will Christopher will leave knowing that his mother had an affair. All this thoughts and reading this exiting story let the time past quickly. What I observe in my reading was that every time I think about something I get distracted and time goes faster and can’t meet my goal of reading as much as possible to stay with the story.

Allusion is a brief reference to a person, event, place, or phrase. This book contains an allusion because in this story Christopher is good with math and dreams to be an astronaut. This compares to other kids who are smart and trying to achieve their goals of becoming they want to do their rest of their life. Special effect is an understatement, hyperbole, alliteration, and repetition in the written work. I believe there is repetition in the sense that Christopher is really smart. Also he always tries to know who killed Willington the dog. Repeat himself to not talk to strangers and when is a good day and a bad day.

i agree with laura when she said time goes quickly while reading. That is what happen to me as i was reading time went fat and didn't realize i had to do other things. So I believe we should put a time limit and certain days to accomplish our goal of to what page we want to stop by.
