Breaking Dawn March 23,2010 pages 288-366

I love the way this book is going so far. It is full of so much suspense it's definitely the book for me. It keeps all my attention that outside distractions don’t even get to me anymore. Just the fact that I have read all of the books and this is the last one. It just keeps me going to find out just where exactly this whole story is leading up to. And just the way that Meyer writes is incredible she has so much TEMERITY, all the work that she puts into just for us the reader to really sink it in is just amazing. I really do feel like I’m right there in Forks as a stand buyer seeing the events unfold before my very own eyes.

What I did to try and improve my comprehension was to keep the flow of the book going. I wouldn’t stop reading until the event that was going on was over or until it died down. I found that by doing this I wouldn’t get so lost in the book because the book is so long. I figured out that this METHODOLOGY it would prove to be the one that I will use for the rest of this book. Hopefully it doesn’t just turn me into a complete bookworm. When I did stop I felt that I completely understood what was going on and what had lead to it and before I knew it I was analyzing the whole situation of Bella getting pregnant. I was thinking critically.

Bella getting pregnant was an allusion referring it to the Bible. It reminded me of the Bible because no one believed Mary was a virgin, after all you do have to have intercourse for a woman to create another being. So when Bella got pregnant is was unbelievable to because Edward was no longer human so how could he get her pregnant and then to top it off it was like super sperm or something because a normal woman’s pregnancy is nine months and so far is looks like her baby will be born within the next month! The FEASIBILITY seems so impossible but then again this is fiction. The special effects was Bella using repettion for effect. She kept calling her baby nudger.

Ashlie Fields (ashliefields) | 8 comments The Passion of Alice Pages. 36-122 March 23, 2010. 3:24pm

I don't see why Alice decides to skip breakfast one morning to go to church instead. All of the other anorexics were mad that she was let out of the cafeteria early because she was catholic and wanted to go to church on Sunday. It seems that church has a really big hold on Alice and that she really believes in God, but even at communion, when she goes to drink the wine, she can't because of her fear of calories. I feel bad for her but at the same time I want to shake her and tell her that she is all messed up and just needs some help. All of the girls sit together in the cafeteria and in group sessions based on their eating disorder and they discuss why they chose that eating disorder. Alice feels that she is the smallest of them and all and I think that this gives her the wrong idea of what it means to be the best in this hospital. She feels that she is the best in that hospital because she weighs the least and that is she continues to not eat she will never have to deal with an INCREMENT in her weight like all of the other girls are. When they get into groups and talk I fell that Alice doesn't really talk much because she doesn’t want anyone to notice her. She would rather have the bulimics cry about having just eaten a little bit of cereal, and not wanting the food to be in their stomachs anymore, than talk about herself. Given the PARAMETERS of Alice’s disorder, I have realized is that she is never going to get help if she doesn't try to help herself.

I lost track of my reading because I was constantly thinking about all of the other homework I had to do for this week. I would find myself reading but not understanding what I was reading so I would have to go back and re-read it. I locked myself in my room and made sure there were no noises around me while I read so that I could attempt to read without having to reread. I got stuck when the story started talking about Alice going to church and I was confused on where that came from. I wanted the author to EXPLICATE more about why church was important to Alice. But after a few chapters I understood why church and God were a big part of Alice. Even though her eating disorder could not be cured in church she still thought God might be able to help her in some way. After I got through all of the confusion it was a lot easier for me to keep my concentration on what was currently going on in the story.

An allusion is a pointed and meaningful reference to something outside the text, which helps illuminates the object. In the story Alice refers to going to Mass in the chapel inside of the medical building because she was a Catholic. She refused breakfast because of communion, not necessarily because of her anorexia. She makes several references to parts of the Bible that enjoys reading like Proverbs and The Book of Psalms. Repetition for Effect is used in this story. All throughout the book Alice keeps repeating that the only thing that matters to her is that her weight does not go over ninety pounds. She refuses to eat in the cafeteria that way she can stay the smallest. Alice writes in her journal the same thing everyday: She doesn’t care of she gets healthy or gets out of the hospital as long as she keeps her weight below ninety.

Definately I agree. It's very selvish the way she is and the attitude that she has is horrible. Ashley if you feel like shaking her I feel like slapping her out it. I agre with you on the church thing is seems kind of random. If she really is a church goer she is a very bad role model.

Ashlie Fields (ashliefields) | 8 comments I'm glad that you are so into your book Nadia! It really seems like you are thouroughly enjoying reading it. This book seems very interesting since not only did Bella get pregnant by a vampire but she is also going to have her baby within a month. I'm glad that you were thinking critically about why Bella got pregnant and that you understod the whole situation. It makes it a lot easier if you understand and can predict things instead of being lost and having to reread.

The way you talk about this story makes me want to pick up the series myself. I watched the movie and it was pretty awesome! But since I'm forced to read your post, your probably going to give away the ending. I wonder how it feels to dream being pregnant. It would definitely scare the heck out of me! This book seems interesting and keeps the readers on their toes!

Justin Park (gotjustin27) | 8 comments How We DecidePAGES 28-56 MARCH 23, 2010

I began to think of how the author explains how these scientists test these animals to analyse how living things think and react. It's pretty interesting how a mind can learn from continuous testing and learn from expectations. He explains how the scientists test on a monkey. They would make a CACOPHONY and then reward the monkey with the juice. Doing this repeated amounts of times will have the monkey expect a sweet reward when it hears the sounds. It gives the monkey a SUCCINCT expectation for its reward. But when the scientist didn't reward the monkey it showed MISANTHROPY.

What I did to try and improve my comprehension was to isolate myself from everything that would distract me and concentrate on my book alone. It was a very lonely time for me, but I also felt that I was in the book more then just reading about it. The isolation helped me realize that being silent can help me concentrate harder. I read the stories they told and ABET me to have all eyes on my great book that I am currently reading. At first I was frustrated cause i would try to read while I was doing other things or getting dropped off in the car. But it was when I was alone that i thought my comprehension was FEASIBLE.

In the book they mention an allusion. The allusion that is pointed out about a meaningful reference is when some people created a machine called the Deep Blue. It was a machine made in the 90's. It was a very powerful machine of artificial intelligence that played chess. It managed to defeat chess grand master Garry Kasparov in 1997. It analyzed more than 200 million possible moves per second. Even though the machine could think million times faster, it barely won Garry. The reason being that the difference between Deep Blue and Garry was that Garry learned from it and Deep Blue did not being an AI. Garry made VISCERAL choices to go against his opponent.
