April- Pick It For Me! Challenge

You're doing fine, LL. You will not be the first who has made recommendations for more than one person, believe me we all appreciate it. *smooches*

I imagine your shelves are like mine - not actually that accurate as to what you've read! I keep thinking I'll update mine - but the day hasn't come yet!
My recommended-must-reads fro..."
Annie,
Thank you so much for the recommendations. I'm sorry I haven't put up your recommendations... you've read SO many books. Frankly, it's a bit intimidating. I wish I could say that my bookshelves are just not that updated - but alas they are pretty current.
In any case, I just started a new job this week and have been swamped. I finally am sitting down to dinner, but I wanted to give you an update and let you know that I will be submitting some recommendations for you tonight. I'm a bit nervous - but I promise :)
Thank you!!! - Sarah

The ones i have not read come VERY highly recommended and those that i will be reading myself soon.

Gigi and Katherine have read about the same amount of books and i really want to implement the method with them still....sooo, anyone who has read 200 or more books available to make some recommendations for them?
I would place one of them with Carolyn, but i don't think she's around today. I'll have to pair her with someone else who has less or more books read than she.

Ah here is my perfect victim. Leah you are tagged to pick for either Gigi or Katherine. Oh and you have to let them pick something for you as well!

Thanks! :)

From your TBR:
1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (I love this book so I think yo..."
That is very nice to know,oh divine moderator of the best group in GR.I'm normally such a snarky badass offline but books have the annoying habit of making me...nice.Who needs after-sex glow? Get ur happy ass some after-great-book glow.

From your TBR list:
1. The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter
2. Dark Lover by J. R. Ward
3. Austenland by Shannon Hale
New Books:
1. The Least Likely Bride by Jane Feather
2. Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon
3. Mr. Darcy Takes A Wife: Pride and Prejudice Continues by Linda Berdoll
I hope there's something here you like, Gigi :)

Who is available to be paired with Carolyn F? This is with the understanding that since i don't think she's around tonight, you will have to wait until tomorrow for her recommendations.

*ROFLMAO* Oh boy, thanks!
Mind if i borrow the quote? It's priceless, love it!

Who is available to be paired with Carolyn F? ..."
I'd volunteer, but I can't afford to add a third book to this challenge! I hope I can get through the two I pick for this, LOL

From your TBR:
The Phantom of the Opera - I keep swearing i'm going to read this book because I love the Musical so much
Night Pleasures - I saw you had read Fantasy Lover already and I actually enjoyed this one more
The Darkest Night - i'm reading this one for a challenge this month, so I thought I would recommend it to you.
New Recs:
My Phantom: The Memoir of Christine Daaé - i've had this in my TBR pile for a while, but since I recommended Phantom of the Opera to you, this is the same story told from Christine's perspective - its available in ebook or paper form from Amazon (not sure if you had a preference)
Pleasure Unbound - I love the demonica series and since you have a paranormal theme on your lists, I hope you enjoy
Angel Warriors - this is a new series that i've seen recommended and I have the first one to read. they are about a group of angels (can't remember if they are fallen or not) - it is supposed to be a bit spicier than some romances.
hope there is something there for you to enjoy! If not, let me know
BTW - I hope Norfolk is treating you good! I just moved to Maryland after living in Norfolk and VB for 4 years!
Dee

Sorry it took me so long. I hope you like something from my recommendations...
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon - I just started reading it. It came highly recommended and I am really enjoying it so far.
Something Borrowed by Emily Griffin - a fun, easy, read
Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati - shot in the dark - the cover looked good :) and the amazon ratings were decent. << At least I'm honest - lol.
From your TBR list:
Blood and Iron (Promethean Age - Book One) by Elizabeth Bear.
Good luck - have fun and keep me updated on which book you are reading.

"
True. Hopefully someone else will volunteer tonight. If not i'll do it myself tomorrow morning.
I'm off to read now, but if someone stops by and would like to make recommendations and have some made by Carolyn. Please post them here. I'm sure Carolyn will make the recommendations for you later when she checks the thread. I'll be back to check on you guys before i go off to bed or tomorrow morning.
Happy reading gang, don't forget to come back and update your partner once you're done with the book chosen!!!

Not a problem! It did look like we posted the comments around the same time. I like making recs for people so I usually volunteer if anyone still needs them by the deadline.

I think we have similar tastes so I am picking for you Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice - I read it a very long time ago and thought the main charcter was complex, likeable an..."
Thanks, Sherry! I think I'll try "The Seduction of the Duke." Unfortunately, I've already read "Interview With the Vampire" (and I really liked it!) and I tried to read "Kushiel's Dart" but I couldn't get into it and never finished (that one I totally forgot to add to my "couldn't finish" shelf).
I posted my recs for you a couple of days ago. I hope one of them interests you!

From your TBR:
1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (I love this book so I think you'll like it.)
2. Succubus..."
Thank you, Leah! I actually added "Stray" and "Can't Take the Heat" to my TBR list. Not sure I'll get to them this month, but they do sound interesting. :)

I wouldn't mind an additional rec. I'm looking for recs for Carolyn now.
Leah! Thanks so much for picking for me. I'm looking into another set of recs for you as well. I'll let you know what I pick. They all look really interesting. I may have to add all of them to my TBR.

LOL. Well, you know what they say, "ask and you shall receive." I'll do my best to squeeze in an extra book this month. :p

LMAO! Awesome.

Awww, you're so sweet! :) I appreciate it.

You seem to like Jane Austen, as I do. So, I thought I'd recommend Georgette Heyer. She gets compared to Jane Austen often.
Frederica by Georgette Heyer
Devil's Cub by Georgette Heyer
Venetia by Georgette Heyer
Historicals
The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie by Jennifer Ashley
A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught
Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas (from your TBR)
Contemporary
The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
Nobody's Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Welcome to Temptation by Jennifer Crusie
Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
Paradise by Judith McNaught (love her)
PNR or Time Travel
Outlander by Diana Galbadon (from your TBR)
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong (from your TBR)
Wicked Ties by Shayla Black (from your TBR)
Hopefully, I've picked something you like as well. Let me know what you pick and how you like it.
Thanks again for picking for me.

I got a little lost in your book list as well. So many great books! We both share a love for the breed series.
There are two breed books which are on my list of favs that I didn't see in your booklist. So, I'm going to recommend them. Also, Rossy started a dare for Lion's Heat. Should be a lot of fun!!
Elizabeth's Wolf (Breeds, #3) by Lora Leigh (Dash is one of my favorite breeds-love this story!)
Tanner's Scheme by Lora Leigh (I noticed that you read Cabal's story. You should read his brother Tanners story. I really enjoyed this one!)
When I see that someone likes Jane Austen, I always recommend Georgette Heyer. So, I'm going to recommend her to you as well. She's compared to Jane Austen often.
Frederica by Georgette Heyer
The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer
Devil's Cub by Georgette Heyer
Other Recs:
PNR
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh
Marked by PC Cast
Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (From your TBR)
Shadow Game by Christine Feehan (From your TBR)
If you're in the mood for romantic suspense:
Perfect by Judith McNaught
Hopefully, I picked something you like. Let me know what you picked and how you liked it. If I'm completely off base, I will be more than happy to pick again.

Hey Avidreader! Actually, we are partners. I made recs for you a couple pages back. So, you just go through the persons booklist to see what they like and then make recs for them either by suggesting an entirely new genre for them or something they apparently like. Usually, its good to make more than one recommendation.
Its a total blast! You'll love it!

From your TBR list:
1. The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter
2. Dark Lover by J. R. Ward
3. Austenland by Shannon Hale
New Books:
1. The Least Likely Bride..."
Leah, I have Dark Lover on my Kindle. So, I'm going to go with that one! Thanks so much!

Okay, my recs for you are...
From your TBR, Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I haven't read it yet, but I've heard a lot of good stuff about it.
Away from your TBR, how about Beauty by Robin McKinley? You have a lot of fairy tale retellings on your read shelf, so you might like this.
You've also read a lot of historicals - which is something I don't read a lot of, but I'm recommending Her Notorious Viscount by Jenna Petersen. I read the first quarter or so on Avon's website last year, ended up buying it and reading it straight through. As it worked for me, someone who generally shudders at the mere mention of a historical, hopefully it'll also work for historical fans.
There's also Greywalker by Kat Richardson. I made notes as I went through your shelves, and I haven't put down why I thought you'd like this one! But basically it's a great little urban fantasy. It does take a little while to get going but the series really takes off from the second book - and you do need to start at the beginning.
As you seem to like Amelia Atwater-Rhodes's stuff - how about Persistence of Memory? I read it last month and liked it, though it's a pretty short read.
You seemed to enjoy was Sea Witch, so how about continuing on and reading Sea Lord? There's also the option of moving on from Witchling which looks as if it was a 'so-so' for you, but in my opinion Changeling was a better read.
Last up, how about Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs? You gave 3 stars to Moon Called, but Cry Wolf sounds to fit the same grouping as you gave to First Drop of Crimson - it has all the elements of the more urban fantasy main series, but a far sweeter romance. Anna and Charles' story really starts in the short 'Alpha and Omega' in On the Prowl, so that's another choice.
Hopefully there's something here you'll like, but if not let me know and I'll think of something else! :)

From your TBR: Covet or maybe One for the Money. I've read both and enjoyed them.
I noticed you had quite a few romances on your read shelf, so maybe The Captain of All Pleasures would be something you'd enjoy?
Or... To See You Again: A True Story of Love in a Time of War. This doesn't follow the format of a traditional romance, but it's a true story and I really enjoyed it.
Other recommendations: A Certain Slant of Light Just a book I enjoyed.
As She Climbed Across the Table A book I read recently and have been recommending to everyone! :) It's short, just over 200 pages, but very interesting.
If none of those interest you, please let me know.
Also, I'm currently reading Night Pleasures for another challenge, so I'm going to read Angel Warriors for this one. Thanks for the recs!

I've been very leery about reading Patricia Briggs after Moon Called. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either imo.But you have convinced me to give her another try with Cry Wolf.I DID enjoy the story about Charles & Anna in the On the Prowl anthology.Overachiever (at books)that I am,I'm also going to try to readPersistence of Memory.I haven't read Atwater-Rhodes since I was 12(8 years ago) & I am curious to see if she causes me the same enjoyment as she did as a supe-loving tween.
Btw,I am definitely gonna put Greywalker(it reminds me of the earlier Merry Gentry novels) & Hush, Hush on my TBR shelf. They seem very interesting & I would love to read them when my reading workload isn't so heavy.

Hey AvidReader, actually Gigi is your partner but when i did not get a response from you by 11pm last night i re-paired her with someone else. I don't think she would mind if you made a recommendation for her, but she may not get to it this month with the others that she already received.
In order to make a recommendation you have to go to the person's profile and go through their "shelf". You can compare each other's books to see if there's something you've read that she may have on her TBR shelf. Or you can type down the name of the book or author in the search slot located on her shelves. That way you can see if she has already read the book or not.
I hope that helps. The pairing list is here and this are the recommendations to you by Gigi.

Hey Av..."
Rossy, thanks so much for all that you do to make the challenge run so smoothly. You are right. April is going to be a big book month for me! I'm so not complaining! LOL Anyway, I'm always up for recs- love them! I'll try to get them all in this month, but my world wont start again until after I finish Lion's Heat! LOL

I know what you mean, i'm counting the days every time i wake up. It's pure torture!! Even with the many purchases i did last night, it's that one i want the most right now. *sobs*

This is not unusual. If you read previous posts you will notice that Leah, Gigi and Harper are doing the same. Even i have done it a time or two. Although the commitment is for 1 book, when you volunteer to make recommendations for someone and you already have a partner your commitment is 2 books.

My recommendations are based on your TBR shelf. I notice you are not a big fan of romantic suspense so here they are
1. Natural Born Charmer- Susan Elizabeth Philips.
2. Faking It- Jennifer Crusie
3. Welcome to Temptation- Jennifer Crusie
4. Breathing Room- Susan Elizabeth Philips.
5. Only By Your Touch- Catherine Anderson
6. Vision in White- Nora Roberts
This is not on your TBR list but this book is a very different concept. The name is Skin Tight by Susan Andersen. I also have a romantic suspense book to recommend for you because it is just absolutely phenomenal. The name is Cry no More by Linda Howard and as with anything written by Linda Howard, it is completely amazing. Please, Please, Please read it:)

I went a bit crazy! I'm not sure how many of these books are upbeat or have happy endings. I noticed that you like a lot of suspense--I'm not a huge suspense fan so, I picked based o..."
I appreciate the fact that you put so much effort into this challenge. Thank you so much.

Avidreader, you are very welcome. Dont worry about it-I was never mad. I love your choices. Great recs! In fact, I'm torn between Only By Your Touch and Cry No More. You definitely convinced me to give Cry No More a shot. I'm going to try to fit both in this month. I will let you know what I think. Thank you so much for my recs.
Let me know which one of my recs you decided to read and what you thought of the book when you finish it.
Fun, right! I love this challenge. It's one of my favs.
