Alaina | 8 comments I'm a new librarian and I'm a little confused about the difference between kindle editions and other ebook editions. I did a search of threads to see if there was an answer, but there doesn't seem to be a specific discussion about this, so I thought I'd start a new thread.

Is there a reason that kindle editions are separate from the regular ebook edition of the same book? It looks like it has something to do with kindle not using isbn? Should the kindle edition be merged with the ebook edition (I'm inclined to think they should, but that's probably because I don't think kindle is so special that it deserves to be separate).

If they should be merged, can someone clarify how that's done? Do you just delete the kindle edition? Or are you supposed to do something more to indicate that the kindle format is included in the ebook edition?

Jenny (narcisse) | 179 comments I believe that Kindle books are differentiated from other e-book editions because they use an ASIN in lieu of an ISBN.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 316 comments The Kindle editions should just be combined with other editions of the book (like you'd combine the hardcover and paperback editions), but not deleted or "merged", since they're technically different.

Plus, if you were to delete a Kindle edition, it would automatically repopulate from Amazon, since that's where GR gets a lot of its information...
