Release Dates

Hey guys,

Sorry this is so random but wanted to know about the release dates for books that Goodreads lists, you know when you click on a book and it tells you when it's coming out. Is that American dates? Because I'm in Australia and half the time the dates are wrong...
Any help/answers would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Rhiannon!

I'm pretty sure the dates you are seeing are for the US releases. The only time they are different is if the book cover is different from one continent to another, at least that has been my experience. Hope this helps!

Much of the data on Goodreads comes from Amazon, so most of the release dates are going to be American. But people have added publications that were released in other countries and have then combined them with the same book already in Goodreads. I usually search by isbn number so that I find the exact edition I have in my hand or that I plan to read.

Both of these are the same work, just different editions and they have their different release dates:

I REALLY wish Goodreads would have an alert system. Where if a book on your "to-read" shelf is now available for purchase, it'd let you know. That'd be so awesome.

I know that some bookstore websites have release dates...but again they can be wrong, sometimes books come in on the internet but are in store earlier or later. Did that make sense? A list from everyone would be helpful!
