Too true Larry, too true.

Yeah, you're alone on that joke, Tori.

message 53: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I miss Arrested Development. Watching that show for the first time gave me great joy.

I get it confused with the other one...Curb Your Enthusiasm.
But I liked what I saw of AD. It had Jason Bateman, right? Good sign.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I loved Arrested Development. Be careful who you choose to duet with if you karaoke to "Afternoon Delight." :)

Jaimie (jaimie476) | 664 comments Re: American Graffitti: I don't care for it either.
Re: Titanic. I love it but I usually skip past the beginning until you get to her story.
Re: Finding Neverland. I second Barb's recommendation. That little shit made me cry!

The movies that everyone loves and I don't get: The Godfather trilogy. I watched them all in one sitting with my old roomate's girlfriend. Every so often one of us looked at the other and asked, "do you understand what's going on?" Usually I can understand the most complex plotlines but I think those movies made me dumb.

I fast forward the treasure hunting dudes in Titanic often too, Jaimie.

message 58: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I don't like Saturday Night Live. I haven't for many years now. It just seems like they try way too hard -- and it's just not funny to me anymore. Maybe it's because I don't use drugs anymore. Hmmmm ... yeah that might be it.

Amy Polaner on Parks & Recreation gives me the creeps, just as she does whenever she does anything. She wants desperately to be as naturally funny as Tina Fey -- but she never will be.

IMO.

message 59: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Poehler, right. See, I dislike her so much I don't care to get her name right.

Yeah I've been saying it at least that long. It hasn't been funny since that night I was really stoned and John Belushi had the bee costume on.

I like Amy Poehler, she reminds me of my good friend Kir. And I'm willing to be the one who says that I still like SNL. It has its moments, just as the early 90s Farrell/Sandler years had good and bad moments, and I'm sure the late 70s SNL had good moments but I'm too annoyed by giant frizzy haired woman to try to find out.

I do love love love Chevy Chase and Steve Martin.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I miss Ana Gasteyer. That "commercial" she did on SNL, for the Late Pregnancy Test, was hilarious.
Looking ready to deliver any second, you hear her think, "Could I be pregnant? I'm not sure if we're ready..."

I also loved the "commercial" for "Annuale," the once-a-year birth control pill.

http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/02...

"And when it is time for your period, hold on to your f***ing hat..."

“Do not take Annuale if you plan to ever become pregnant, as it may turn your baby into a firemonster,” the ad says. “In the days around your period, you may develop a leathery tail."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I laughed so hard at that one, I was literally crying.
I miss Tina Fey, and I like Amy Poehler, although she could be a little over the top for me. I loved having all those funny WOMEN on the show, instead of it being basically a boys' club.

message 62: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Yeah, I liked the Tina Fey/Amy Poehler Weekend Update combo a lot. I think the cast is better than it's been in years, but they don't seem to write very funny material.
There's that whole "Let Betty White host SNL" thing that went around Facebook enough that they're actually going to do it, but I don't see that it'll be any better if they don't make the sketches funnier.

You know who turned into a ridiculous human being? Victoria Jackson. I thought she was funny back in the early nineties but now she is a political weirdo.

message 63: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments SNL definitely has it's moments. I think it's still batting better than whatever 60% is. (I don't do baseball stats, but the reference is apropos.)

JLo was host (hostess?) recently. She did a skit where Univision was covering the Vancouver Olympics. It was hysterical. You should watch at least that.

And then there was the whole show when Zach Galifianakis was host.

Sidenote: I love the concept of Hulu, but they are sooooooo SLLLLLOOOOOOWWWW. The picture is nice, though.

message 64: by Cambridge (new)

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Hey Larry Amy Poehler and her Arrested Development hubby (Will Arnett) are procreating AGAIN, just thought you would want to know there will be more of her on the planet :)

p.s I do enjoy Hulu as well and I find that SNL goes in roller coaster stages both seasonally and skit wise through out each show. Not consistently great but bit still gems of hilarity ensue.

I forget how much you like her. I think that is so weird. I mean, whatever floats your boat...but really? Tina Fey?

message 67: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Larry, back me up on this one.

Thank you, sir.

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not Jones, but OK

message 72: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Oh, crap. Jones is probably wondering why I high-fived him. Helps if I pay attention to the postings.

At least I didn't call you Ahmad. Sorry, Jim.

message 74: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments By supporting my assertion that Tina Fey is hot.

I just don't see "hot" here at all. Pretty, ok. Funny, sure. But caliente? Sexy?

message 76: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It's a very personal thing. At least for me. I refuse to defend it.
