required reading...

I am in a ENGL 307 class that is require I read this piece. I have read the first few chapters, anyone have any kep points they think I should look out for through out the text? I tried researching on google scholar about the author/text but found very little except it is a highly recommended read.

Well, obviously it's far too late to help you now but for anyone else with the same question I should say it's important to pay attention to the various ways Howells tries to keep his work realistic, especially with regards to the romance plot. Of course, the book is all about class so that's important as well.
