I remember it having a lilac color cover as a thick paperback. It had a picture of a butterfly on it. I was call it palindrome or something. I think it was an older cult classic but I am not sure. Thanks!

Surely this is Papillon by Charriere? There would be any number of covers from the different editions but almost all have at least one butterfly (the title)http://www.amazon.com/Papillon-1960s-...
