Added page count, publisher, description and language from Amazon. Not on Worldcat due to being independently published.

Hi,

Can someone either add page numbers to paperback editions or approve for length for this series?

GR has a paperback edition, but needs pg numbers:
Mister Billions
Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Mister-Billion...

Mister Baller
Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Mister-Baller-...

GR only has Kindle edition: I guess these need the paperback edition added?
Mister Baby Daddy
Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Mister-Baby-Da...

Mister Bossy
Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Mister-Bossy-B...

Today I added publisher, page count, and language from Amazon to the paperback. It should be noted that, although the paperback matches in ISBN and ASIN, the cover does not match what currently shows on Amazon.

Sarah, that edition already exists. Scroll down on main book page and click on "Show all 47 editions". On that edition screen, click on "format" and choose "audiobook". When the list of audiobooks come up, you will find the newest one shown on Amazon as the second one. Hope that helps.

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3675 comments Morning.

Would it be possible for a Librarian to add a GR description and some location information to: The Cold Heart of Capricorn? The location is San Diego, California.

Both Fantastic Fiction (https://www.fantasticfiction.com/l/ma...) and Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cold-Heart-C...) have the following:

"This is the second mystery thriller to feature Californian private investigator and parapsychologist Dr Elizabeth Chase. In this novel her adversary is a brutal rapist with his own paranormal powers."

The specific (British) edition I have is The Cold Heart of Capricorn. It's missing a cover image in GR, but it matches the one on the Amazon link, above, if it can be added. Plus, it has a more detailed description:

"The San Diego rapist claimes his latest victim on a cold rainy Monday morning in January - and the police finally admit that they need Elizabeth Chase's psychic talents to track him down.

But when Elizabeth joins their team she can get only frustrating glimpses of the cold, ruthless man who has raped at least four women. And the attacks are turning deadly...

Then Elizabeth turns to hypnosis, hoping to find leads in the victims' repressed memories of the crimes. The subconscious clues at last bring her closer to the rapist.

Too close."

Thanks!

Trish, I added description, page count, and language to the link of your copy. And, I made the description the default one so that it will show on other editions. None of the sources I used ~Worldcat or Amazon ~had your description, so I used what I had from the ones I accessed.

Regarding the cover. I understood that your cover is the one showing the constellation. However, per Amazon and Worldcat, that cover is only on the Mass Market Paperback, which does not meet the ISBN of your book. So I did not add it. I suspect that it is an alternate cover and an alternate cover edition would need to be made for it. But, without knowing for sure, I chose not to do so. Sorry.

message 3424: by Trish (last edited Dec 15, 2022 11:48PM) (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3675 comments Thanks for adding the other details, especially the link to San Diego.

For the cover, the edition I have is the New English Library one (the PB imprint of Hodder and Stoughton at the time), which has definitely has the police badge on it, as per the Amazon link I sent you. The trouble is, it's sufficiently old that it only has a 10-digit ISBN: 0-340-66573-4.

I must have sent you GR's 10-digit to 13-digit extrapolation one - for which I apologise for the confusion. I managed to put the 10-digit one into WorldCat, and got this: https://www.worldcat.org/title/596250...

Is that your cover?

I thought it was the one with the sky showing. Oh, well. I have added this one from Amazon since it matches the Worldcat listing which does match the ISBN.

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3675 comments Happy New Year. Just a quick Librarian thing. The Kindle edition of the latest Rivers of London graphic novel Rivers of London Vol. 10: Deadly Every After has picked up a typo from the Amazon record of the same version: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B43413V...

It's clear from the cover that it should be Ever, not Every, and both the GR softback (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...) and the Amazon softback (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rivers-Londo...) have it right!

Also, going from the Amazon record, the page count for the kindle edition is 108pg (the WorldCat version is pagecountless: https://www.worldcat.org/title/134091...)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments Hoping someone can add the pages and correct the description to MMPB.

I have this MMPB in my hands: Dying for Chocolate (A Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery #2) by Diane Mott Davidson ISBN: 0553560247

It has 323 pg, incl "index to recipes" and "about the author" pages. If you include the preview of the next book in the series which is printed after the author page, there are 350 pages.

The amazon record lists it as a "paperback" with no page numbers and an ASIN # (!)
https://www.amazon.com/Dying-Chocolat...

.

If I type in the ISBN # that is on my book into amazon it gives me THIS: Dying for Chocolate (A Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery #2) by Diane Mott Davidson (which is probably an updated cover; the Goodreads record does not show an ISBN, and calls it a paperback).
Amazon record: https://www.amazon.com/Dying-Chocolat...
Amazon calls it MMPB and shows 352 pg (which closely matches the 350 pages of the book in my hands, IF I count the preview of the next books included at the end).

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Bea Emily wrote: "T. Coraghessan Boyle and T.C. Boyle are the same author. Can these accounts be merged?"

The simple answer is no. T. Coraghessan Boyle is a GR Author profile and T.C. Boyle is not. GR would need to do this as librarians are not allowed to do anything with a GR Author profile.

The best that can be done is already done. A note on T.C. Boyle profile referring to the other...and all books on the T.C. Boyle file list T. Coraghessan Boyle also as an author.

First, GR does not count previews of other books in the page count. Worldcat gives the page count for your ISBN as 321p, which is the page count I used to update the record.

Worldcat has the alternate cover, which GR lists on your book in the edit fields as an alternate cover to your book's cover.

Only the Amazon listing for the alternate cover is formatted as MMPB. Worldcat only lists the book as a paperback. I did not change the format, since Amazon does not list your cover as MMPB but rather as Paperback.

GR has changed its process for ISBNs. It now lists the latest book added under the ISBN rather than having more than one book share the ISBN. Sometimes the latest one added is the oldest, sometimes the newest.

Amazon seems to use ASINs for all books regardless. If you scroll further, you will frequently find the ISBN also listed.

Christina, do you have the book? There is such a wide variation in page count, I would like to know what pages your paperback has.

Worldcat says 436 pages for the ISBN, but does not give the format.
Amazon says 416 pages for hardcover and 624 for paperback. Both have the same ISBN. The book you linked is a paperback.
