Actually, the ISBN for the paperback matched the ebook entry on GR. All other details matched also, so I changed the format to paperback. Per Amazon, only a Kindle and paperback editions are available.

Every Breath You Take: A True Story of Obsession, Revenge, and Murder
compared to:

Can a librarian change this to make the description fit the audiobook?

Thanks Bea!

I don't have a copy of this (mine are all individual titles), but my library system does, so I ordered the copy held by another library. It should arrive in a few days and I can provide that information then, if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Thanks!

Worldcat (GR preferred source for page counts) says that ISBN has 307 pages. (GR uses Amazon for Createspace books and Kindle books since Amazon is more or less the printer of those.) However, I have occasionally caught Worldcat in error. Do you have the actual book and can you verify what is on pages 308-384?

I already made the adjustment based on pretty solid evidence.
I don't have the book itself in hand, but I'm looking at a table of contents from one of the local libraries - the last section of end-matter starts on p. 370 with at least 11 roman-numbered pages of front-matter - this is consistent with the page data on Amazon. The record doesn't otherwise have a page count. Another local library doesn't have the table of contents (same book by the ISBN) but lists it as 369 pages. Without actually having the book in hand (and knowing that library page counts vary wildly even for the same book), the table of contents is a pretty solid indicator.
I could see reducing the page count for the index and the last two items, because few people would actually read those, but the end notes are part of the text, leaving (conservatively, if you reject the front-matter even though many people read the preface) at least 360 pages.
Yeah, I think it's pretty safe to say Worldcat got this one wrong.

Thank you! I am using this for a challenge that requires a certain page count and the difference of 100 pages made the difference between being able to be used or not.

It looks like Worldcat did miss on this one. I wish there was a way to communicate such to them when I find it in my own research, but I haven't found a way yet. However, unless GR has changed the Librarian Manual (I haven't checked), the roman numeral pages are not counted but the end stuff would be.

It's a pity that they make that call, although I understand they need to have something simple and consistent to apply, because publishers are themelves quite inconsistent on this count. Some start the numbering with the introduction, some do not - and it doesn't seem to matter if the introduction was written by the author or someone else. Most do skip the TOC and the preface, however.

Book came in today...
The Cat Who Knew Shakespeare
Starts on p. 11 (title page, story starts on p. 13) and ends on p. 196
The Cat Who Sniffed Glue
Starts on p. 197 (title page, story starts on p. 199) and ends on p. 404
The Cat Who Went Underground
Starts on p. 405 (title page, story starts on p. 407) and ends on p. 639

Thanks - sorry, I just saw this.

I'm looking for a paperback version of State Techonics by Malka Ann Older. I've found one with no cover picture - while the top one that comes up in a search has the same page count as the coverless one, but doesn't have any details on ISBN or what kind of edition it is (HB, PB, ebook, etc)
I suspect they're actually two halves of the same book, as it were, so I wondered if they should be joined together.

WorldCat also does NOT have this ISBN. Please check your actual item and verify that is the correct one. I did find another mmpb edition, with another ISBN.

I went over to do this and found it already completed.

The Vintage Caper - currently just shows year 2009. I believe the correct date is Oct 20, 2009.
I Always Loved You - currently shows the "default" Jan 1, 2014 date. I believe the correct date should be Feb 4, 2014.

Amazon says 384 pages.
My book in hand has the table of contents going to xv, then a blank page, followed by pages 1-366, and then two unnumbered pages "About the Author" and "Publisher's Acknowledgements". (This adds up to 384.)
I'm not sure whether this should be 366 or 384, but can a librarian please add a page count.

Per the GR Librarian Manual, the roman numeral pages do not count - the correct page count is 366.
This also agrees with the Worldcat record.
