I bumped this question to the GR Librarians group since the author labels the book on her website as Book #12, prequel.

Thanks, I can use the suggestions in the task, but none of them appeals to me much, and most of the ones I know are 0.5 are not long enough.

In checking it today, Andy, I see that the GR librarians have ended up with the Kindle edition as #0, the hardcover as #12, and the paperback editions as #0.5!

The problem is that the author has not definitively given this book a prequel number but rather defined it as both a prequel and #12.

If you look up Mary Peiffer you'll see she has narrated several of Grafton's books.

If you enlarge the cover image you can clearly see her name does NOT have an 'F' after the initial 'P'.

Interesting. Amazon seems to agree with you that it's a Mass Market Paperback, but they say 304 pages. I checked the "See inside" feature and that's obviously wrong because Table of Contents says the last chapter starts on page 331. I will correct that now.

I'm pretty sure it is the first edition hardcover, since the only available formats anywhere are audiobook and hardcover (and the edition linked above is the print book), but the publisher's site is very lacking in information.

I'm unable to confirm this is the same edition as the linked Worldcat record - there appear to be three editions with two different page counts.

Aprilleigh is right about the 3 editions with 2 different page counts per Worldcat. However, since 2 of the 3 had 255 as a page count and the match with publisher and ISBN-13 was there. I added the page count as 255.

I have this book in my hands and it has a copyright date of 2004.
I checked my library catalogue and amazon, and they both show it as 2004. I believe the first published date was April 12, 2004.

The goodreads home page for Loretta Chase states Jan 1, 1949 -- but I think January 1 must be a default date if only a year is entered. I searched over 50 author goodreads profiles and noticed a statistically improbable number of January 1st birthdays

Counted the last chapter by hand ... 18 pages plus 155 = 173.

The paperback won't be released until Feb 2020. I can add the edition, but you won't be able to use it for the task because it's not yet available. If, on the other hand, you have an ARC, then I would need those details in order to add it.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you hadn't seen that. I added a page count to the hardcover since it was missing when I looked (but was listed on Amazon). Hope that was enough.

My experience is that the ARC for a hardcover, even when it's actually paperback, usually shares the page count and other details of the hardcover. I have several of these myself and their details have always matched the hardcover rather than the subsequent paperback release.
