Siobhan J | 409 comments Can I get page numbers added for the paperback edition of The Private Secretary?

Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1...) has it at 156 pages.

Thank you in advance! :D

Lagullande | 387 comments Please could a Librarian add the page numbers for this edition of A Long Way From Home? I have it from the library and there are 357 pages, although Amazon has it listed as 368.

Many thanks.

Worldcat has it at 359. Does your book end at 357 or are there pages past it? Currently I have put in the Worldcat count.

Lagullande | 387 comments Bea wrote: "Worldcat has it at 359. Does your book end at 357 or are there pages past it? Currently I have put in the Worldcat count. "

The last page with the text of the novel on it is number 357. There is then one blank page, and two pages of acknowledgments.

message 1907: by Bea (new)

Bea OK. Acknowledgements are included in page count per Librarian manual, so I will leave it with the Worldcat number.

message 1911: by Janice (new)

Janice | 713 comments Would someone please add the paperback edition of HARD ROLL: A Paramedic's Perspective of Life and Death in New Orleans including the page number?

Here's the Worldcat page without a page number listed that I can see: https://www.worldcat.org/title/hard-r...

Here's the Amazon page with 256 pages listed: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06...

My copy does have 256 pages.

Thanks. I hope I've given enough information.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments Maybe someone can straighten out this book's editions.
With Hemingway: A Year in Key West and Cuba by Arnold Samuelson
The cover image shown for this edition is a totally DIFFERENT book! (Hemingway in Cuba by Hillary Hemingway

I have in my hand a FIRST EDITION of Samuelson's book.
183 pg, with a cover that is very similar to THIS paperback edition
With Hemingway A Year in Key West and Cuba by Arnold Samuelson
BUT, with a background color that is more gray/green, with the photo tilted slightly at an angle, and with the title written in RED and in cursive.

The isbn is 0-394-53983-4. On the page with publisher info, copyright, etc there is also this notation:
Manufactured in the United States of America
98765432
First Edition

You might also add that the introduction/foreward is written by Diane Darby (who actually holds the copyright).

I don't have a smart phone so I can't upload a photo of the cover. Using the paperback edition cover would be an improvement over using the cover of a totally different book!

Thank you in advance for any help.

I just knew that, if I ignored this request, it would wait until I was ready to tackle it! And, so it did.

Book Concierge, I could not use your cover from Library Thing as that is not an approved site for covers. However, I did find it on AbeBooks, which is approved. It was amazing to me how many places (including Worldcat) had the wrong book cover.

Thanks so much for persevering, Bea! I also noticed the incorrect cover on WorldCat ... Not to take anything away from Hilary Hemingway's book, but still....

message 1921: by Meg (new)

Meg (megscl) | 2466 comments Hi, could someone add a page count please?
The Passengers
According to the publisher's website it's 344 pages - https://www.allenandunwin.com/browse/...

message 1922: by Bea (new)

Bea Hi, Meg. Thank you for looking up the publisher site, however, sometimes the publisher includes all pages including ad pages and next book chapters. GR prefers Worldcat as a source since their count of pages is most closely aligned with GR standards. Worldcat has 336 pages. So I will add that.

Do you have the book in hand? If so, can you confirm what the odd 8 pages contain?

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments Can the 1st published date on this book be corrected?

I have a signed hardcover 1st edition with a copyright of 2008.

THIS edition in goodreads matches the book in my hands as far as ISBN and page count, but has a publication date of MAY 2008
So Brave, Young and Handsome by Leif Enger
MY book was signed on 26 April 2008; author was on the book tour for the new release.

THIS edition in goodreads has different ISBN but has the correct first published date: 22Apr2008
So Brave, Young and Handsome by Leif Enger

Please correct 1st published date to 22April2008

Thank you in advance.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments I think this "first published" date is in error; currently shown as Dec 6, 2004

I have the first edition in my hands with a copyright of 2005
A Thread of Grace by Mary Doria Russell Shows a publication date of Feb 1, 2005. I believe this IS the first published date as well.

I could find no edition published earlier. (Although there were clearly ARCs available because Publishers Weekly had a review in late 2004. )

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments Can someone fix the subtitle of this edition
How We Got Here: The 70s The Decade That Brought You Modern Life -- For Better Or Worse: The 70s - The Decade That Brought You Modern Life - For Better or Worse

Here's the hardcover edition for comparison
How We Got Here: The 1970s: The Decade That Brought You Modern Life

---EDIT----

Well, now that I look at it the hardcover is wrong as well! ... not to mention other editions.
Looking at the actual cover of the book, the title should be:
How We Got Here: The 70's: The Decade That Brought You Modern Life -- For Better or Worse

Thanks

Actually, GR has the first pub date now showing as March 1, 2018, which is the publication date of the paperback. All the other editions are showing June 19, 2018, expected publication date. As I can find nothing to correct that date, I have left this request alone.
