About being a librarian... Goodreads has no requirement for librarians to do anything, you can edit one book a year or one hundred books a day - it doesn't matter. You're already doing the most time consuming part and the only difference would be typing the information into the edit book page instead of typing it out here. You'd also benefit from the peace of mind of knowing it's been done and not having to wait for someone here. No pressure either way - but I thought it might be a bit of valuable from-the-other-side insight. :)

To be a librarian you have to have 50 books on your profile and then you can apply here. I would also suggest looking at the librarian manual to get a feel for the policies and such - most of which is probably pretty familiar to you since you've been following this thread for a while. :) You don't have to participate in the Goodreads Librarians Group, but they recommend you join in case they announce a policy change or something.

I was wondering if a librarian would please add a page count for me? The book is Scholars and Gypsies. I have the 1963 edition, which is the one shown on here. There are 324 pages. Here is the Amazon link. Although it doesn't show a page count either, it does show the cover.

I have just added an edition of A Journal of the Plague Year with a description and by publisher Dent (hardcopy). I put down that it had 295 pages which included the appendix. However, as I am unsure of how GR counts pages...the book itself ends on page 280 with one appendix following. All pages including the appendix are counted in the page numbering. If it should be 280, please change it when the book is combined. Thank you.


Oh, and I am unsure if I have added this book in the past, although I did not see it in the editions list for handcovers. I might have added it and failed to request combining. Sorry.

Bea - I did find a second edition that you added. These are the two I'm looking at.

They have some different information, so I wanted to double check that they are the same edition. If so, I'll go ahead and merge the two before I combine them and they get lost in all the other editions.

Fixed. That edition didn't actually have a description and someone made the Spanish one the default, which is why it was showing in Spanish... I hate when that happens. >_<

Yes. As a rule, any site that is a bookseller (Amazon, Google Books, Alibiris, etc) are not acceptable to get data from. Publishers that sell their books on their site are exempt because, well, they're the publisher.

I added the cover to Stealing Liberties and created a series for the books.

For legal reasons we aren't allowed to use Amazon as a data source and since I can't find ISBN information on the author's site I can't add the paperbacks at this time.

If you own the paperbacks and provide the following for the books I can add the, but otherwise we'll have to wait for someone who can confirm the details to provide them.

* Title
* Author(s) name(s)
* ISBN (or ASIN)
* Publisher
* Publication date
* Format
* Description
* Link to cover on a NON-BOOKSELLER site, such as a publisher site, an author site, etc. No Amazon, B&N, or other bookseller links can be used as sources for covers or other book data.

I have a problem with an edition of Honore de Balzac's "Old Goriot". The translator's name is put instead of the author's name, that is Balzac.
