Laura | 149 comments I was read The Hobbit as a child, I enjoyed the story but found all the songs and useless chapters which could've easily been taken out with no difference to the story irritating, my Father then read The Lord of the Rings to my brother and I, and I found the useless text even worse so I stopped listening.
