Congrats on your first win, Michele!
Katherine: I haven't won anything since Easter (and I read and reviewed right away), and there have been a lot of books I really wanted since then.

I've hit a dry spell but, though there are many more I'd like to win, I'm really backed up on won books right now. Have about five to read from Goodreads and review and one from Library Thing. Can't be too greedy--LOL
After a long dry spell, I have finally won a Goodreads giveaway. This is one I really wanted to read - Thunder Dog - A blind man, his guide dog and the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero. So appropriate that I received the e-mail announcing my win on 9/11/2011.

Just won The Switch by Sandra Brown over the weekend. This ended the dry spell I've been in since the beginning of July when I won a bunch of books. This is a good way to start off a Monday morning!

They're giving away a bunch of signed copies of some of John Grisham's books and I just got an e-mail this morning that I won a copy of
which is one of his I haven't read!
I won Marcia Muller's latest, City of Whispers. I hope these don't need to be read in order because I'm about 20 books behind!
Click on the Explore tab at the top of the page. Then click on 'giveaway' in the dropdown menu. There is a wide variation in how often you win. GRs algorithm is a mystery but it helps to review the books when you win. A free book in the mail is always a treat. Good luck.
Wow, after several weeks of no wins, today I've wonA Thousand Lives: The Untold Story of Hope, Deception, and Survival at Jonestown

Congratulations! Fingers crossed the dry spell might be over for the "Ks"!!

I won a copy of
this week, too! I put in for it for my husband as he's into WWII history, especially Patton. 2 wins in a week is the best I've done!
Melodie wrote: "I won a copy of

Please make sure you let us know how it is--I didn't put in for it--worried it might be too dry.
I won & just received a volume of poems by a favorite of mine, Anselm Berrigan's Notes From Irrelevance
. I don't read poetry quickly & I'm swamped with lesson planning & assessments but I'm still very excited.
Congratulations to all the other winners.
Just won The Arrow Chest, my second win in the last couple of weeks. The exciting part for me was that they were only giving away 1 book and I won - the first time that has happened.
I won a copy of
! I'm sure there will be some tearjerker moments in it, but I'm looking forward to it!
Congrats, Linda and Melodie--looks like the L's and M's are pulling down the books these days--happy for you. We K's were on a roll for a couple of months there but have hit a drought! LOL
Congratulations Nancy. Still no luck for me but I'm losing my mind downloading free Kindle books so I'm not so bothered!
Karen M wrote: "Congratulations Nancy. Still no luck for me but I'm losing my mind downloading free Kindle books so I'm not so bothered!"Karen, I have downloaded many free and inexpensive books to my Kindle.
Sandie Congrats on your win!
Nell wrote: "I won Marcia Muller's latest, City of Whispers. I hope these don't need to be read in order because I'm about 20 books behind!"Almost 6 weeks later and I have not received this book. Has anyone else had this experience? I did report it to GR as not received. Bummer. I started reading this series again in expectation of the newest.

Yes, sometimes I don't get the book and once it showed up 8 weeks later. another time the publisher said she thought they'd all been sent but sent me one immediately and then followed up with two more that I hadn't won for the inconvenience. I usually contact the publisher not Goodreads. It is a rare thing here but common on Library Thing
I have been signing up for giveaways but have fallen behind on reviews and taking part on the discussion boards. Don't know if it makes a difference but haven't won a book in forever! I feel neglected--LOL Guess I'd better get going.
Katherine wrote: "I usually contact the publisher not Goodreads.."Thanks I sent an email to the publisher. We'll see what happens. As far as I can tell, none of the GR 'winners' received the book.
I won a book last November that I never received until mid-February, so yes -- sometimes publishers either forget to send the books, or they get lost in transit.
Katherine: I haven't won anything from GR in months--not since Easter, when I won two books in one week. I read and documented both books right away, but didn't seem to do any good. Truth be told, I've about given up on GR contests.

Congrats, Denise!! I keep entering, but haven't won anything since May. I still have a few to read that I won earlier this year. Hope to finish them by the end of the year, but a couple are big ones.

Maybe if I annoy the algorhythm enough it will get back to the "K's"!! LOL
