Chrissie was one of my first friends and I'm so happy to have met her!

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Chrissie was one of my first friends too. And Chrissie, it was when your screen name was Chris. ;-) I'm very, very grateful to have met her, and many of my friends here. Goodreads is a special place.

That's funny Lisa, she was Chris for me too and I didn't know if she was a man or a woman at first.

Chrissie I know, I first called myself Chris b/c I had had a diabetes blog and blabbed too much so I figured I must not do that......... I cannot stop blabbing as history has shown. Jennifer in Australia was my very first friend.

But you guys soon followed. My three Ls, have remained constant from the beginning. Lynne, Lisa and Lee. The strange thing is that none of us have at all exactly the same book interests, but the overlap is just perfect. We each pull each other to try other genre. We can always depend on the other knowing if the book could fit us. Often you guys know me better than I know myself. Lee, that is why if you say State of Wonder will fit me, I take it very seriously. OMG I remember the fool I made of myself with Jennifer. We are still friends :0) It is the atmosphere of GR, that we all help each other that is so great. Maybe it isn't so bad that there is little instruction available, it pushes us help others. We remember when we were beginners.

I HATE the name Chris, it is so boyish! YUCK!

I don't hate it, but I did think you were a man at first, and I love the name Chrissie.

Chrissie, I agree. I probably wouldn't read so many great biographies if I didn't know you. It's wonderful!

By the way, one of the things I loved about State of Wonder was really getting a feel for the Amazon where the story is set. The atmosphere is amazing. Some of the characters are a little over the top (maybe irritating to you??) but overall the story really pulled me in.

Chrissie Lee, I do think Patchett's BelCanto was magnificent, so maybe it is time I try another by her. Have you read that great book about Teddy Roosevelt and the tributary of the Amazon named after him. I cannot remember the title. It too well depicts the Amazon! Do you know the book I mean? If you do not, I will dig up the title.

Lisa, exactly! I tried to explain to my parents that Chris was a boy's name. They never agreed! I don't think men and women talk the same.....you must have gotten a kind of funny impression of me!

Yes, I know the book you are referring to and I have it on my list. I'm sure I'll love it!

Yes, I was confused. Wasn't sure if you were a man or a woman. And I think you had a ball as your avatar at the time.

Chrissie Lisa, no, those were smoothened stones from a river on my avatar.

Hey, we better stick to the tread's topic!

Oh! A lot of confusion back then. And thanks for co-modding here Chrissie. You're absolutely right! I lose track of what threads I'm in sometimes.
