Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) I like the original Willie Wonka and the Chocolate factory. If this film doesn't give you an excuse to eat candy, I don't know what else to say about it. Especially the chocolate that flows out in the opening part of the movie. The music is really nice, too.

George | 951 comments Depp's Willie deserves to be seen if only for it's peculiar effect, but I perfer Wilder's Willie, and it's less likely to frighten children, in my opinion.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) Yes especially when Depp talks about cannibalism. I am sure there is a child out there somewhere who asked their parent what is cannibalism. And the poor parent having to explain. How I would dread describing that to a child. But who knows that might just go over children's heads.

Mariel (fuchsiagroan) I liked it without loving it. I could come up with complaints if I felt like it (the add-in ripoff of Reepicheep from Narnia), but as I wasn't expecting to be totally blown away, don't feel like bothering. I've seen many, many worse versions of Alice.

Why'd they cgi Crispin Glover's body? Still love Crispin Glover.

I spent half the movie trying to guess which Sunset Rubdown songs Johnny Depp based his acting performance on.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) Never saw the movie, just caught snippets on the plane, I would have not wasted my good hard earned money on that. Especially with his Dutch Boy haircut, I don't recall Wonka having a dutch boy haircut.

Mariel (fuchsiagroan) One thing the Burton Willy Wonka has is better looking candy.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) Yes, I give it that much.
