I watched the trailer for Avatar the Last Airbender, and no matter whatever you may think, Jasper's actor looks really good as Sokka. Seriously.

Unless you ask my brother, who's all "But he's white, and his head isn't all shaved."

Yes, which is why he's living in fictional China. Or somewhere in Asia where they copied Chinese characters. SO either Japan or China.

O.o I'll be in Heaven the day movies follow the books and TV shows exactly as they are.

Olivia ^^The Awesome Mushroom^^ (canttaketheawesomeness) | 756 comments Harry Potter, in the first couple of movies, was pretty good about that, actually.

Old Yeller was pretty close to the bone, but the movies of Cirque Du Freak and My Sister's Keeper made me SO mad. :/

message 279: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments OLD YELLER MADE ME CRY!!! So did Marley and Me, Where the Red Fern Grows, Eight Below... WHY MUST ALL THE DOGGIES DIE??????? MOVIE PEOPLE ARE SO MEAN TO DOGGIES!!!!!

I only watched and read Old Yeller because it was for a school thing - that's why I read Where the Red Fern Grows, too. Truthfully, I didn't think they were sad at all. But, then again, I'm not the biggest fan of animals. I always have the urge to say "It's just a dog..." xD
But I thought that My Sister's Keeper was sad. I didn't cry (I rarely ever do) but I thought it was sad. I'm not totally heartless. :D

Gah. Am I the only one that could hardly get through The Incredible Journey (Homeward Bound)? The movie, I guess, was okay, but if you're calling it Homeward Bound, you obviously haven't read the book. Again, I had to read it for school. :/ The only good book my reading teacher has picked this year is Holes.

message 287: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Yeah, but it's still sad!!! I probably cried for that movie too...

message 288: by [deleted user] (new)

With books like Marley and me, where the character dies of old age i don't cry, because death is a part of life, and it doesn't really upset me because i know you can't avoid it. I didn't cry with my sisters keeper, because i kept thinking that the author chose the 'easy way out' and that the book should have ended with having to make a decision.

Technically, they had no decision because Anna won her law suit. So if she had lived, her kidney would not have been donated to Kate, resulting in Kate's death. Anna made a choice at the beginning of the book when she decided to sue her parents.

My Sister's Keeper:
Kate was diagnosed with leukemia when she was two. Her parents nor her older brother Jesse was a donor match, so her mother conceived Anna by stem cells to be a perfect donor. I don't know exactly the correct way to explain that process, but in simple words, Anna was born to save her sister, Kate. At first they were only going to take infant Anna's umbilical cord for blood, but then Kate relapsed and they drew bone marrow, blood, you name it. Some years passed and Kate's kidneys began to fail - their parents wnated Anna to donate her kidney. But Anna is now thirteen (Kate is sixteen) and is beginning to question who she really is, like most teenagers. So she sues her parents for the rights to her own body. If she wins, it will result in the death of the sister she loves, but if she loses, Anna is afraid she will lose herself.

Olivia ^^The Awesome Mushroom^^ (canttaketheawesomeness) | 756 comments Wow. That's so sad.

Not really, but it's a seriously good book. And I mean seriously good. Especially because I don't even read stuff like this - I'm a horror fanatic. And yet this, a drama novel, kept my attention. Jodi Piccoult is amazing.

The movie is.

message 296: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments I WOULD CRY FOR THAT MOVIE TOO!!

Catie, I feel the same way you do. I don't really care about death or whatever, really I love it. It's the perfect way to get rid of a character you're done with... I remember my brother told me once: "Rosie, when you write a book one day, and you don't know what to do with Rachel, a car crash never hurt anyone. You could have the breaks on a train fail and smack into a brick wall, anything you want Rosie, can end Rachel forever..."

It's just I can't take the dog dying!! I just can't take it!! I'm okay with people ya know. Just not the dog! I will never, ever write a story when the dog dies, never ever ever ever EVER!

If I were Anna, I'd sue, hopefully win, then give my kidney or whatever to my sister. Ya have two anywayz.

message 297: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Ah! Yes! I forgot to say:

I hate being called Rosie.

Continue.

If she was going to give her kidney to her sister anways, then why sue? That was the entire point.

message 299: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments I would sue so I would get my right to do whatever I want and not be forced into it. As a kinda "I can do whatever I want." So my immense act of kindness wouldn't be forced on me.

message 300: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy ooh! yah, if my sister ever needs a kidney I'm suing then donating! :P
