Whooo Hooo yeah Baby! The reason I was concerned about re-reads is that I plan to re-read the OUtlander books by Diana Gabaldon and they are BIG HONKING VOLUMES...and you bet your sweet booty I won't skip sections. Miss even a moment of Jamie and Claire? Not bloody likely!so, I'll commit to the 5 book level, Do These Books Make My Butt Look Big. I'll list them as I go, or maybe later if I just can't help myself...I get so OCD Happy making lists!
Figured out my list for the Do These Books Make My Butt Look Bigger level.1/5
1. The Cursed by L.A. Banks 512 pgs
2.
3. The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray 819 pgs
4. City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare 453 pgs
5. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare 541 pgs
Actually I have another question. The rules say no short stories. How about something like Secret Vampire; Daughters of Darkness; Spellbinder that is one volume of...what? would these be novellas? Anyway I do plan to read the Night World books this year and it would be peachy keen if they counted. Also come to think of itAnne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy, which I have in one ginormous volume.
so does it start the day you posted this or can we backdate? I ask because I have one I'm currently listening to in audio that qualifies, but I started it before the official challenge since I got it out of the library. oh yeah, and I have another one that I'm currently reading that definitely qualifies, but I started it about a week ago.

It's either 8 chunksters, or 3 tomes of 800 pages or more. I believe the Outlander series books are all over 800 pages each. Just a thought.
Wow, you read my mind Kasia! I've been wanting to add a challenge to read all those big books in my TBR. Too Big To Ignore Anymore: 2/7 Completed

Question, does it count if I added it on my TBR before...but read it after accepting this? Because I'm just starting one NOW and I want it to count on this challenge LOL.
Hello everybody! I'll go with "The Chubby Chunkster", one step at a time. I'm kinda lazy with books these days. I'll post as I go, is that ok? And should I create some topic to post my books?
I just finished the The Reincartionist by MJ Rose.(455) I started it March 1st does that count? lolI am going for Mor-book-ly Obese. My next book is Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison with 487 pages.
I'm going to try for the mor-book-ly obese challenge. I won't list them ahead of time- as I always come across books I want to read from other threads and books from the library. This would be a great one for me to commit to!
Mor-book-ly Obese all the way! I'll post as I go.2/8
1)
2)
3)The Pact: A Love Story by Jodi Picoult 512 pages
4)Sabriel by Garth Nix 496 pages
5)Outlander by Diana Gabaldon 853 pages
6)Night World, No. 3: Huntress, Black Dawn, Witchlightby L.J. Smith 746 pages
7)
8)
I will do The Chubby Chunkster Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer (640 pages)
Dark Angel; The Chosen; Soulmate by L.J. Smith (688 pages)
Night World, No. 3: Huntress, Black Dawn, Witchlight by L.J. Smith (746 pages)
OK, seems like several people are doing Night World, which is technically three shorter novels in one volume. I plan to count it as well unless I hear otherwise. Short stories and essays don't count but these stories are over 200 pages each so that isn't short by any definition...except maybe to me and my fellow Diana Gabaldon fans who are used to 1000 pages, LOL!
I'll have to come back and check if the Night World series are going to count or if I have to change them.
I'm and will do the Mor-book-ly Obese challenge.2.The Mists of Avalon--876 pages
3.City of Bones--485 pages
4. Eragon--503 pages(re-read--read it about 4 years ago)
5.Eldest--704 pages
6.Brisingr--763 pages
7.American Gods--672 pages
8.Temeraire: In the Service of the King
Well me and my OCD Self just had a little fun. Here's my list. All are TBRs, gathering dust, and need to be read and out the door!Do These Books Make My Butt Look Big?
1. Invisible Man by RAlph Ellison 469 pp.
2. Wolfking by Bridget Wood 614 pp.
3. House of Dreams by Pauline Gedge 513 pp.
4. Doomsday Book by Connie Willis 578 pp.
5. Charlotte Gray by Sebastian Faulks 496 pp.
**alternates/ additional titles**
Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon
and Night World series by L.J. Smith ...may bulk me up to the Morbookly Obese level!
Kelley wrote: "so does it start the day you posted this or can we backdate? "I guess you can backdate if you want. It's a "yearly" challenge, so backdating some won't hurt. But if it feels like cheating to you don't do it.
Gaijinmama wrote: "Actually I have another question. The rules say no short stories. How about something like Secret Vampire; Daughters of Darkness; Spellbinder that is one volume of...what? would thes..."If it's in one volume I'm willing to say yes. But in general, if it's a trilogy or a short story collection, you can just split it up and count as several books for the challenges. Maybe you'd rather do that? You decide.

Yeah."
Hey Kasia, may I just say, thanks for running this challenge and answering all the questions. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I sometimes get so caught up in the details of a challenge that I forget this is supposed to be fun!Now I'm off to read a few chapters before bed ((It's 10 p.m. here in Tokyo.)
Cheers, and good-night/ good-morning/ whatever it is where you are.
No biggie, that's what I'm here for. Have a good one, Gaijinmama. It's the middle of the day here, so I'll be staying up for a while yet myself.
Well the first of these chunky beauties is done. I need about a half hour or so before I go at it again with another after just finishing the exciting climax of the first. I was pacing myself nice and steady and then the pace picked up and I couldn't hold back any longer. I raced to the finish. Now I'm a little stiff from the effort of spreading the creamy white pages of this hefty tome above me for such a length of time. I'd like to say that it was a deep and satisfying book, but I'll settle for open and available. Perhaps I'll swing by the library and pick up a quickie later. I wouldn't want to strain myself and prevent my optimum performance for some serious reading later with my wife. After all, it is her openness to letting me read without her as well as sharing a book with me in bed at night that makes me love her all the more. What was I talking about again? Oh yeah. I finished the first of my reads for More-book-ly Obese challenge.
