Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments I am interested in reading it before seeing the movie. I really enjoyed both Mystic River and Gone Baby Gone but somehow missed this book and not entirely sure I will like it but I am looking forward to trying it out. I figured I could get some honest and varied opinions here.

Mary (madamefifi) I've read all of Lehane's novels but Shutter Island is by far my least favorite. It was a bit confusing, I thought, and seemed to drag in places. I haven't seen the movie, either but the trailers are better than the book, so....

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Thanks Mary :) ....... He is quite the twists and turns story teller, haha...... and just the trailer for the movie had me thinking was I going to be into this book or not?? the trailer looked soo confusing.... so to hear you confirm that at least lets me know that I was getting the right impression any way. I will see. Thanks.

Mary (madamefifi) Actually I think it will be a much better movie than book. Just to clarify.

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments That is what i took away from your review :) Thanks! If I hear a lot of the same I may abandon trying the read and just see the movie at some point as I have enjoyed the movie adaptations of the other two stories I mentioned as well.

Joy I loved the book; haven't seen the movie yet but I'm a big Scorcese (sp?) fan.

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Thanks Joy I am definitely going to give the book a try.... and I love Scorsese too..... (freaky little dude but he makes some amazingly compelling and intricate films)

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Welcome Robin, I am brand spanking new too, I'll hang with you as I know virtually noone, but from what I have found so far is definitely some fun conversation! :)

Félix (habitseven) Where?

message 15: by Cambridge (new)

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Well Larry, (may I call you Larry? hah) I have enjoyed the Oscar buzz and review.... very insightful :) (as one example.....) and of course the pizza pie debate could be construed as a highlight, depended upon how pathetic a life you lead, *I refuse to concede quite that level, yet notice the # of comments I made on that thread :( * ;)

message 16: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yes all good stuff, Cambridge, your contributions helping to make it so.

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Oh Larry, I can't take my eyes off your 'speak no evil' profile pic....... I am not sure I can by live that as I missed out on the profanity thread for the most part, but I curse like a sailor on shore leave :)

message 18: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sailors, I'll have you know, are actually quite well behaved when ashore.

message 19: by Cambridge (new)

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Thanks for the tip I now know to steer clear of sailors and look for drunk and boisterous locals :)

message 20: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yeah extraspecially in Boston.

Shana (shanac55) | 98 comments Cambridge,
I saw Shutter Island last weekend and was a bit dissapointed. But in all fairness, I went in thinking it was going to be very creepy. It wasn't as much as I had hoped. But I did enjoy watching Leo for a couple hours ;)

message 22: by Cambridge (new)

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Excellent, thanks for the heads up Shana, I am looking for all sorts of in put. And nothing wrong with a couple hours of Leo :)
