Chris Haught (haughtc) | 130 comments I have Horns listed with a read date of April 1st, but that's mainly there to have the book show on our page.

But what does everyone think of doing an official group read of Horns in April? That should give everyone time to get a copy, and time for those to knock it out before the discussion starts, if you prefer that method. Some like to read along with the group. With enough advance warning, people could do it either way.

Or should we wait awhile before doing an official read? Do we even need an official read? I figure I'll end up reading it either way around that time, so it doesn't matter too much to me. Whatever the group wants to do...

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) 'Scuse me. I just confused myself. Don't mind me!

Yes, April 1st would be great! :)

message 3: by Kandice, Felina is the best (new)

Kandice | 114 comments I can read then as well. Of course, that's only possible in my case because of Kathy and Becky!

I am dying to get my AUTOGRAPHED copy!:D

message 4: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 92 comments I already read in February but would love to discuss in depth!

message 5: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 101 comments I think I'm already due for a reread! lol ;)

Betsy Boo (betsyboo) | 30 comments I have to admit I'm re-reading it now. This is the first time I have ever re-read a book almost immediately after I read it the first time. The thing is, it is getting to me emotionally even more...this is also the first time I had to put a book down 'cause I was crying. I don't know how Joe does it.

Betsy, you're in good company (probably should say that I am).
6'6'' and nearly 300lbs (ugh); Horns is one of a handful of books that bring tears. Some sad, some for joy. Thankfully, they were happy tears when they were rejoined and left me feeling "clean". Know what I mean?

I completely know what you mean, Tom! It's definitely that kind of book....and that sure takes skill!

message 9: by Bondama (new)

Bondama (kerensa) | 18 comments I agree with April 1st as a Group Read for "Horns" as well. This is one of the most moving books I've ever encountered, and I just can't bring myself to write a review of the book -- I'm usually NEVER at a loss for words, but "Horns" is so, so special that I just can't find the words to even attempt a review -- so a Group Read would be wonderful!

message 10: by Felina (new)

Felina You guys are getting me really excited. My copy shipped yesterday. I'm looking forward to being moved to tears.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, Tom. And the cool thing is, there are parts of this book that make you laugh out loud, too. I can't think of an emotion I didn't have while reading it.

message 12: by Tom (new)

Tom Mueller | 15 comments I appreciated the many references to music that I caught, other than the obvious Stones refs.
Next time through the book, I'll keep more detailed notes.
"Devil with the blue dress" - BIG lol from me. I had Ig perfectly pictured, played by Robert Downey Jr [Ironman:].

message 13: by Betsy (new)

Betsy Boo (betsyboo) | 30 comments Wow...RD Jr. would be great as Ig in the movie if he were a little younger. Someone on the JHMB mentioned Emma Watson as Merrin. She certainly looks the part, don't you think? Don't know who should be Lee but he should be very attractive. Like Robert Pattison.

message 14: by Bondama (new)

Bondama (kerensa) | 18 comments RD Jr. would b the perfect Ig -- Especially as the Devil With a Blue Dress On!! I do think that Paul Bettany, an English actor with EXTREMELY light coloring, would be best as Lee.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 130 comments Betsy wrote: "Don't know who should be Lee but he should be very attractive. Like Robert Pattison. ..."

God, I hope not. Because then I'd probably refuse to even watch it.

message 16: by Bondama (new)

Bondama (kerensa) | 18 comments Chris - I completely agree. The character of Lee (inside) should be somewhat reflected in his exterior appearance. I would NEVER watch Pattinson read the telephone book!

message 17: by Felina (new)

I agree.

message 18: by Betsy (new)

Betsy Boo (betsyboo) | 30 comments Meow!
Lee is supposed to be attractive, just as evil often is. I think just because RP was in "Twilight" that doesn't mean he's necessarily a bad actor. But RD Jr. is way too old to play Ig. Ig is only in his mid-twenties!

Tanya (tawnycat) I read this book a couple nights ago (all in one night, it was THAT good). I absolutely loved it, and Joe Hill has a new devoted 'constant reader'. I'm going to be reading all his other books as eagerly as his dad's.

I have Chris to thank for recommending Joe Hill to me. Thank you Chris! You never let me down when it comes to good books.

message 20: by Kandice, Felina is the best (new)

Kandice | 114 comments Tanya, if you like short stories I can strongly recommend 20th Century Ghosts. It's not strictly horror and definitely gives you lots to think about. If I hadn't been so addicted while reading, I would say it would be a great collection to dole out one or two at a time between other novels.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 130 comments I got my copy in the mail yesterday. I'm all set...

Yay! I know you'll love it, Chris! :)

message 24: by Kandice, Felina is the best (new)

Kandice | 114 comments Chris, were you going to read on March 1st with Becky and I, or can you not wait that long? LOL

message 25: by Chris , The Devil Inside (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 130 comments You mean April?....well, good question. I'm almost done with The Regulators. I will probably try to get to Firestarter next, and if there's a gap before the 1st, I also got that new thick Warriors anthology.

I might fall behind though for the first few days of April. We're moving that first weekend. Ughh.

message 26: by Kandice, Felina is the best (new)

Kandice | 114 comments Ummmm...yeah, I meant April.
