Oh Bridgit, I think I love you!!! I'm reading a few series right now that I adore, and I'm so excited to learn about others!
Just to clarify: do we have to have read the entire series? (In which case it would be a rearead?) I love the task by the way!
That's a good question, Erin. The next book of my favorite series comes out on the 9th and I was hoping to read that for this task!
Kathryn wrote: "That's a good question, Erin. The next book of my favorite series comes out on the 9th and I was hoping to read that for this task!"You do realize that I somehow have to fit all ten of these books in somehow?!?! Ack!
Jayme wrote: "all 10 of what books?"The Private series by Kate Brian. Kathryn was my #1 "Friend of Friend" and it was her 5 star book and it is awesome and I am hooked. I went to boarding school (the one this seems to be based on, actually), though my reality was nothing like these books!
But there are ten of them! And I'm having trouble finding tasks for all of them, as you might imagine ;)
You are so awesome. I may get all the Sookie books I have to read (from #3 on) into the challenge yet!
I went to Choate. Parts seem to definitely be from Choate, though the school-named-for-town thing might be Groton?Anyway, I have fun imagining it taking place in buildings I know.
The series is nothing like the boarding school I went to. Granted, mine was a small christian one out of the country... I thought boarding school was a good experience. Everyone says I am harsh when I say I want to send my hypothetical kids to boarding school.
Bridgit, would Bite Me by Christopher Moore work for this task, or is that too much of a stretch? It's not a typical numbered series, but it's the third book written about the same group of characters (just from different POVs).
Well, when I say it was like my school, I don't mean the secret-dorm-society part. THAT would be cool. But no.I thought it was a great experience. My 9 year old says she'd like to go. But now that my hypothetical children are real, I have a hard time imagining letting any of them go away that young. But we live in the South. When I went, it was only an hour from my house.
That's my justification, and I'm sticking to it.
lol, I didn't think you mean secret society type things. I just think it helped me grow up and become more independent of my family. My sister (who didn't go to boarding school) freaked out and dropped out of college, though she is going back. I think it helped me grow.
I wasn't saying that you need to go to boarding school and in order to not drop out. I just know it helped me a lot.
Would these work? The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
Shopaholic and Baby by Sophie Kinsella
Deadly Décisions by Kathy Reichs
Would you consider a book from a Trilogy to be part of a Series? Or are you looking for a series longer than that?
Oh, I forgot that The Lost Symbol and all of those books were a "Robert Langdon Series". I quiet like that series!
Cait wrote: "Bridgit, would Bite Me by Christopher Moore work for this task, or is that too much of a stretch? It's not a typical numbered series, but it's the third book written about the same ..."I'll take it.
Petra wrote: "Would you consider a book from a Trilogy to be part of a Series? Or are you looking for a series longer than that?"Trilogies will work.
Jayme wrote: "what if the series is finished but you haven't read the whole series?"that doesnt matter. Just read a book from a series. The task is really just meant to help people (like me!!) fit in the books they have been really been looking forward to reading this season from their fave authors.
Sandra wrote: "Would these work? The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

Yes. If it has a number (like #3) in the title, it will automatically count.
Nicole wrote: "You are so awesome. I may get all the Sookie books I have to read (from #3 on) into the challenge yet!"Ha! I actually did think about you when I had decided on this task! Glad to help!
So if you don't have a favorite series - like those of us who don't usually read series - it can just be any book from a currently unfinished series, correct?
I love you, Bridgit! LOLI love so many different series and I'm always trying to figure out a way to incorporate books from those into my challenge.
What if you've read all the books from your favorite series? I'd rather not re-read. Like El asked, can we read from any unfinished series?
El wrote: "So if you don't have a favorite series - like those of us who don't usually read series - it can just be any book from a currently unfinished series, correct?"Yep.
What about the first in a planned series? I would like to read The Hollow and the second in the series is going to be released in August of 2010.
I am wondering, too, if I can use the first book in a series. I would like to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.Heather in KS
Tanja wrote: "I might use The Girl Who Played with Fire for this one."I have all 3 from that series hon. I plan on reading his 1st book for a task as well lol.
You have all 3?! Lucky! The 3rd one hasn't released in the States yet. That's why I've tried to pace myself between releases. It's time to do this one. I WOULD have done Catching Fire BUUUUT the 3rd book isn't out until August. Trying to hold out until Jun/Jul :P
Tanja wrote: "What if you've read all the books from your favorite series? I'd rather not re-read. Like El asked, can we read from any unfinished series?"Yes you can, Bridgit is letting me do that.
Okay, so, just to clarify, I can either read a new book from a series that is still in progress OR I can re-read a book from a series or trilogy that is completed that I have already read once?
Kate wrote: "Would One Good Turn work? Atkinson used the same main character in Case Histories: A Novel."Yes, Bridgit said it was Kate. I am about to read her 3rd book in the series When Will There Be Good News?
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Kate wrote: "Would One Good Turn work? Atkinson used the same main character in Case Histories: A Novel."Yes, Bridgit said it was Kate. I am about to read her 3rd book..."
Oh, great, thanks, Fiona. I didn't see your original question!
Kate wrote: "Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Kate wrote: "Would One Good Turn work? Atkinson used the same main character in Case Histories: A Novel."Yes, Bridgit said it was Kate. I am abou..."
Kate, message 43 hon was when she said you can "yes. any book from any series. New read or reread. first book in the series or anywhere in between."

Also, I never had a question as I am reading Silent Partner.
WOW... I have a lot of favorites. I think I'll reread something... Or perhaps Undead and Unwelcome... I still haven't read that one. OR The Sweet Far Thing...
