And loads of people in SA use that word.

Ivan Vladislavic!!!
I was trying so hard to remember that name the other day and I just couldn't. Drove me crazy.
Would you recommend his book(s) Shannon?
Ok how about JAGS - "horny". May also mean "crazy" or "mad". Examples: Person A: I want to get robbed Person B: Are you jags?

Is that 'JAS'? At least, that's how I always heard it used in Cape Town, although I also been told that some slang is a bit different in CT.
haha thats a good word!
Ok I thought of more yesterday, nice good afrikaans words
Kiekie meaning photograph
Makietie meaning party

Hi Lauren, I'm holding judgement for now - this is the first one of his that I've tried, and I put it aside after about 30 pages - I got the feeling that he was just writing to show off his knowledge of South African words/terms, places, names etc, and that irritated me. But it might just have been that I was in the wrong mood, so to be fair, I will try it again sometime.
What about Bru... as in "jis my bru, how are you doing??" meaning my brother...
Sorry I'm getting carried away, but I think as living in the Western Cape we tend to have just a tad more interesting words here hehe
Ok a Summary:
Niecole - Jol
- Poppie
- Kiekie
- Makietie
- Bru
Shannon - OKE
- DOP
Lerize - BLIKSEM
Lu - JAGS
Lol ok So Niecole has been over excited! Which is awesome, but you still need to choose 2 :P

Kiekie and Poppie
I've got so many... But I'll keep them for another month
Then we take the word we voted on and read a book starting with a letter in the word, or a author's name/surname that starts with the letter.
For example:
Z -
U - Uglies
L - Lover Eternal
U -
Nominations will be open until 10th of March.
