Qualities of a pirate: ingenious, persistent, devious, good with computers.

Maybe, as an alternative to a massive fine, they ought to be put to work for the government. There must be a "dirty computer tricks" branch of the intelligence services, don't you think?

(Some good sense comments are showing up on the Tenenbaum discussion http://www.computerworld.com/comments/node/9136350?page=1 )

However, it appears to be possible to give a comment a thumbs up or thumbs down as many times as one wishes.

giving thumbs or down was easy. reading what passed for "thought" and "reason" was the painful part.

Didn't Sun Tsu (I might not have spelled that correctly) in The Art Of War stress that it is important to know how "the enemy" thinks?

I perceive that people passionately believe what they want to believe.

The Machiavelli in me would like to deny Tenenbaum bankruptcy. I think I'd order him to use his talents to catch other pirates or bring down an entire hosting operation...

Currently, if he earned one SIIA million dollar reward for the capture and conviction of a pirate, his fine would be paid in full in short order.

That's an excellent idea.
