I know I'm late to the party but it sounds like something I'd like to do.

I would like to join as a reader. During the week works better for me but can pretty much do it any day. With a hubby and grandson in the house weekends are not always good for me but I can always shoo them out of my craft room and read in there if need be on the weekend. They will just have to understand that I am not available for that day. The grandson is 16 so he can take care of himself if need be or hubby will be available if he needs help with something. Maybe I could buy a new video game for them to play and that will keep them both out of my hair that day...hhhmmmm!!!
I love this idea. I'm one of those with a wierd work schedule though. Maybe a once a month thing would be good so that we could do the ones that work with out schedules. I work every other weekend, and then off and on during the week, so if we kind of moved it around each month I could hit one once in a while.
That's what I think also. I can do weekends, but Like I said before. One month weekenders the next month week days. What does anyone else think about this idea?
Lisa wrote: "That's what I think also. I can do weekends, but Like I said before. One month weekenders the next month week days. What does anyone else think about this idea?" your suggestion is fair & true...allows everyone a chance to particpate esp. if they have a different work schedule.
Sorry everyone! I wasn't getting any GR notifications since last night, and I thought everyone went on a party I wasn't invited to! Uff!Brenda, Lisa, Linda, the chances are this event will be held once a month. Like you said, we are planning to hold one event on weekends, and the next on a weekday. That way, to most, the event would appear to be once in two months, and for those who can read any time, it would be once a month.
Cindy, it's not this weekend. :) We didn't get the time to schedule a poll to decide the dates, so I'm sending one out now. I'm hoping it's next week! *Fingers crossed!*
I guess GR notifications are down then. For the first time, I see that no one has voted within the first hour of sending an invitation. LOL.So anyone dropping by here, the poll for the dates are up. Let me know if any of you get the poll invitation, if not I'll send one out later, but I don't want to spam anyone's Inbox.
This would be difficult for me because I am constantly driving the kids around on the weekend. If you ever do one that is 12 hours instead of 24 I may be able to swing that.
Sandi wrote: "I would be a reader...if on a weekday sounds like a good day to call in sick!"I was just thinking the same thing today!!
Depending on which weekend, I'd be able to be either. A lot of birthdays and a 1st Communion between now and the end of April. I still might be able to squeeze it in.
I'm good for any weekend at this point in time! Bring on the read-a-thon
Hopefully soon...I have my whole day figured out kinda...have several books I am putting aside to read that weekend...
I think most people who voted on the poll opted for the 20th or the 27th, so I think there's still atleast another week to go before we have 24 hrs of fun! :) I'm looking forward to knocking some tbr's off my list
It is getting closer...now to decide which books I want to tackle during that time period...there are to many on my TBR to decide...may just take the first couple off the top of the pile to start and then go from there...
Ill be lucky to get the whole day to myself. Thinking of going to a hotel with my laptop and some junk food and hiding out for the day lol.

Maybe we should all book a hotel and sit there and read. LOL!Alright, most of the votes are in for the 27th, so that's when the first Read-a-thon will be.
This weekend, there will be some Read-a-thon related threads set up in this board, to lay out the ground rules. Catherine and I decided not to impose too many rules, but just lay out the boundaries of the event, so that this will be more fun than work/competition.
We are also beginning to finalize the dates for the April-weekday read-a-thon. I'm so willing to take a day off for that, lol, but anyone who thinks you can participate on a weekday can put in your vote. We will eventually choose a date that can accommodate most (hoping all) of those who can only take part on a weekday.
Hmm, I hope I didn't miss anything.
I hope the April one is while I am on break. I have a good chance of uninterrupted reading time then while my daughter is at daycare!

Thanks Aths!
Sigh--the 27th won't work for me. :o( I have 2 different classes that weekend. So no read-a-thon for me. IF I'm home any, I'll just have to be happy as a cheerleader
