I'm way late responding to this because I missed the question somehow, but as an Intrigue author, I can answer. The books dropped from 65-70,000 words to 55-60,000 words. The main reason my editors gave were 1) reader preference for a quicker read, 2) costs--fewer pages mean less paper/production costs, and 3) to help distinguish Intrigues from the longer, more romance-focused Suspense line.
But did anyone see that the length of Intrigue books changed? They were around 250 pages, and since about March, they're around 210 pages.
I did some Google searches and whatnot, but couldn't find any info about this change. Anyone know anything?
